We are here at the Serge International Film Festival.
I am with Nitin Atsol, who is one of our directors.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for calling me here, writing me here for the Film Festival.
Oh, well, no problem. We appreciate it.
So we're about to watch your film.
Why don't you go ahead and tell me and the audience a little bit about your film?
Sure. The name of the film is Kundalini.
Kundalini is a Sanskrit word meaning coiled up.
And it's the energy of the consciousness within every human body
that stays dormant at the base of the spine, that is coiled up at the base of the spine.
And that's the film is about. It's about this energy.
This energy is so powerful that when it is aroused, a person becomes more conscious,
peaceful, bliss, harmonious.
His true passion, true gifts come to existence.
And the life becomes more purposeful.
So the film explains about this energy, what are the pitfalls, what are the challenges,
and how you can be ready to activate this energy source within you.
Wow. Wow. I've only heard of Kundalini in reference to yoga, types of yoga.
Right, right. You know, Kundalini yoga is a type of yoga.
There are many techniques.
Many yogas like Hatha yoga, Kundalini yoga, or you know, Kriya yoga.
Those are all the techniques to make you ready to have this energy activation.
But Kundalini is separate, it's an energy.
But you can do meditation, you can do breathing techniques, you can do any type of yoga.
Kundalini yoga is more of, like a more geared, more focused towards this energy activation.
But all the methods are there to be ready for that.
Very cool. So is this your first film that you've done, or have you done more before this?
I have done some films before. This is my first documentary feature film.
I have done a feature film drama and several short films before.
But this is first documentary.
What was different about dealing in a documentary form?
Did you feel like it was more free or less free?
There are challenges. It was free and less free.
Free because you don't really need big sets or you know,
hire actors and go through rehearsals and all that.
You don't have to do that.
But at the same time, you have challenges because you have to find the right knowledgeable
subject matter experts who you can interview on this topic.
So there are both sides to it.
But I found it very easy because I connect with this energy and this information.
So there's a lot of research that I was doing.
And I was fortunate enough to find the right subject matter experts.
And they were all willing to and open and happy to be part of the film.
So I found that easy.
Oh, good. Cool.
So now after this, how long did it take you to do this film?
The pre-production started in February last year, 2010, January, February.
And I filmed from April to June.
And then from June to October, it was all post-production.
So you say from February to November, October, like the time frame of the film.
So it was done pretty fast that way.
But I was doing a lot of information gathering and research a year before that.
But the idea of making a film was only conceived in the beginning of last year.
And at the end of the last year, it was done.
And do you feel like there's anything you would change about it?
Do you have any regrets?
Anything that you feel like you was cut short?
No regrets as such.
I would say there's a lot of information that I had to work with to fit in in 80 minutes.
That was a challenge.
I had a lot of theoretical information, a lot of seminars and conferences that I filmed too.
And many people's views.
So it was challenging to accommodate everything.
So that's the only regret that I cannot get everybody in the film.
But this topic is so vast.
This film actually is very good explanation.
It gives very good explanation and introduction and educational.
And the real people who have activated this force, their experiences in the film.
So of course, there is another way I can do maybe another sequel where we can go into more detailed experiences of the people that are not.
So it's always possible.
So we can look forward to a sequel.
Awesome.
Well, thank you for being here with me.
And I guess we're going to watch your film now.
And I'm going to present you with this award for being a part of the festival.
It's the fifth annual International Search Film Festival Honorary Award.
Thank you very much, Sarah.
You're very welcome.
Thank you very much.
This is a great honor.
Good.
Thank you very much.
