Illuminescence
The coffee stains, snowflake coasters are clear of their drinks
A half empty sweating, water glasses are staring at our feet
And the cabinets are watching from their own perspective
Now the sun is sitting outside the window, painting off the glass
The furniture sighs as it absorbs its warm bath
And the television is resting, its dials turn tight
So put your arms around me and take me out tonight
I said cover me with roses and take me out tonight
Take me to empty apartment buildings with their attic on the walls
I'll draw yourself a portrait and we will sing along
Take me to the place where you said we were born
The one with the coat and concrete art and I'll never forget
Now that my career is yawning and the stove is closed tight
So put your arms around me and take me out tonight
I said cover me with roses and take me out tonight
Let's sneak into the hotel rooms using the maid's key
We'll lay down on the queen size bed and pretend we are married
Let's ride on the back of the grocery store walls
I'm gonna steal you away, gonna show you what's in store
Now that my career is yawning and the stove is closed tight
So put your arms around me and take me out tonight
I said cover me with roses and take me out tonight
Thanks for watching!
