Hey, I see somebody working on a computer.
Always.
It seems like, you know what?
Welcome to Creature Label and I'm always working on the computer where we start because
of the wonderful reliability of the software programs that we use.
Hey, but they're free.
There you go.
Well, yeah, we always have something because, for example, I don't mind, like I share it
all with you.
We're having a little bit of an issue with blog talk radio.
Usually they're pretty good and sometimes we get a little confused with the interface.
So I think I have programmed our show to be out at the wrong time.
So at the last minute I was getting us ready to come live on blog talk radio, which is
a wonderful platform, by the way.
All of you should take a look at blog talk radio as a place maybe to promote some of
your music and stuff.
But anyway, yes, I was messing around with the computer today.
It's Thursday, 1130 a.m. Pacific Standard Time and this is Create Your Label and your
own personal internet television channel.
And once again, as always, as I am so blessed to be with them Monday through Thursday, Monday
through Wednesday on a different show.
But on Thursdays too, I'm here once again with the wonderful Morning Coffee Crew, Victor
Allen and Danielle Holland.
Morning, Create Your Label, what's up in the house, hey, I ain't mad at you.
I'm telling you.
So we're getting going, we're getting going and all of you out there working those two
jobs right on.
Get a third job.
Get a third job you might need with for those crumbs arrived.
Well, last time we were here we talked about making your landing page a hit and we visited
a number of places to make sure that you could do that, okay.
We took you to YouTube and showed you how to make a YouTube player.
We took you to Mogulis.
Our broadcast platform of choice at the moment and we showed you how to make the Mogulis
profile and get installed that also.
So we've been showing you a number of things about your landing page.
So today we're going to continue on that.
We said we're going to take a look at I Like and Last That Thin but we're going to put
them off a little bit just because we had some stuff that we thought was a little more
important.
We've been getting some good mail about this stuff.
And so a lot of people are writing to us about Twitter and microblogging phenomena.
So we're going to hit that today but I think we're going to start off just by going back
and showing you some of the software choices we think that you need to get.
To get you started with Twitter, right?
To get you started with everything, the software choices for Twitter, we're going to actually
show them online, Danny.
Yay!
We're going to take them to your face.
I like the new stuff.
Oh, what can I say?
My buddies tell me that when they come home from Disco's all the time too.
Disco's.
Disco's.
Oh, okay.
Oh, that term.
Yay!
Disco's.
They're hanging out, you know.
What can I say?
What can I say?
Well, okay.
Now, as we said last week, let me get my, I'll be able to see what I'm showing you here
a little bit better.
Let me know when you're up, man.
Okay.
I'll let you because, okay, let's talk about the software we're going to need.
Now, some things I use every day, and so we're going to get to the micro blogging software
in a minute, but let's talk about the regular production software that you're going to
need.
Well, you've heard me talk about using Sony Vegas.
Sony Vegas is a video editing software that I discovered about five or six years ago.
Actually, longer than that, maybe seven or eight years ago.
Full software that you can use for creating video segments, doing things like this.
And so I wanted to show you, last time we talked about it, I didn't know the price.
And now I went, I didn't pull up some pages online.
Let me grab my coffee because, you know, just like morning coffee with Mario, which is Monday
to Wednesday.
We got to have that coffee even if it's Thursday.
Let's create your label.
It's an addiction.
Oh, man.
Uh-oh.
Sipping.
Slurp, slurp.
He's a tea tote.
Yeah.
Let's show them this.
Let's see.
Let's take them and show them the first one.
Okay.
Where is that?
All right.
Here we go.
Here we are at Amazon.com.
Okay.
This is Amazon.com.
And I went there to show you, not that I'm endorsing Amazon.com, even though I use them
extensively.
I really do.
In fact, they're one of the places that you can actually sell your CDs.
They have a special program for that, too.
We'll go into that in later episodes.
But for this time, I want you to take a look at the Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Series,
which is going for the rip-roaring price of $78 here.
And what will this software allow you to do?
This software will allow you to create videos, burn DVDs, and it's a more professional software
platform.
Now, you've heard people talk about Adobe Premiere, which is the really high-end professional
platform that is the platform of choice for many individuals, just like Avid.
But for most of us, those are going to be a little bit too steep a learning curve, as
I like to say.
It's going to take you too much time to learn them.
Even though I will say this, if you come from an Adobe background, if that's what you've
been using for all these years, Premiere is probably going to be good for you.
If you're not from that background, then I suggest Sony Vegas Movie Studio.
If you really want to use something that's very professional, very well-laid out, under
$100, definitely.
Like I said, this one is the big package, and it's $78.
Now, having said that, before you even run out and spend even that money, always, always,
attempt to use the software that first comes with your computer.
I said this over and over again, why?
Because pretty much across the board, every bit of software I've run across has been,
one, able to do the job, and actually fairly reasonable to use.
Some would just have more features, give you more options, maybe some more output options,
but really, I'm telling you, the stuff that comes with your...
Well, there they go, the stuff that I'm telling you, I was trying to bump, as I know.
See, they try to call in, but see, not in this time, you guys, that's nine inches of
Ms. Diva, they always call in.
So, but anyway, use the ones that come with your computer, okay?
Now I'm going to switch up pages on this, Vic, so you can pull off.
Now, I also took the time to look out another version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9.
This is just a less expensive version that doesn't work with high-def files.
Even though I really think you ought to really think about working with high-def files, because
that is the way of the future.
We're using a lot of high-def, and the other version will use the high-def, but if you're
not doing high-def, and money's really tight, remember, you can get the Sony Vegas Movie
Studio 9 for $45.
Now, and what other pearl, which you've heard me say repeatedly, before you buy any of this
stuff, because you're already online watching me, go get the free trial, always get the
free trial.
Let me tell you something, sometimes issues come up for me, and I don't have the software.
The first thing I think of is, let me find some kind of software that does this and has
a free trial.
I'll go online and look for any software that'll fit a solution, get a free trial, and use
that.
They do it.
It helps them, too, because it exposes you to their software, and often you're into buying
stuff.
So, all right.
So, remember, all of these have free trials, so I want you to get those, okay?
All right.
I also talked about music software that we like.
We mentioned two of them.
One of the ones that is really much more professional, but really, really easy to use is Sonic Fire.
What is Sonic Fire?
Sonic Fire is actually a service.
This is really for those of you who have more extensive websites, or who are doing a bunch
of them, say you work with a bunch of artists, because Sonic Fire allows you to buy discs.
They sell you discs, but they sell you individual sound samples.
I love the software.
At first, I hated this kind of stuff, but this one was so well laid out.
You buy the software and install it, right?
And then whenever you're looking for music, like, say, a background for a video or a background
for a little piece that you're doing, you can actually search within the software.
It'll connect you online where you can listen to individual samples, okay, and purchase
individual sound samples or purchase entire discs.
Now, they give you a big savings for buying discs, and I must tell you, I bought a number
of their discs, about six of them.
And the really wonderful thing about it is that the editing features make you fly.
For example, say you know you need a 30-second piece of audio, right?
Normally, you'd have to find the right places to do the ending in the beginning.
This one, once you find some audio you like, you drag it into the program, you set the
timeline if you want it, and it automatically makes the fade-ins and the fade-outs.
Oh, I like that.
Boy, Vic and I use this one time.
Remember, Vic, we said we need like a 20-second piece.
We said blip, blip, blip.
And then you can ask it to remix it and do a different version.
Like, you can say, well...
Or loop it.
Go on.
Or you know what I was just saying, or loop it.
Or loop it, right, or loop it or change the vibe, right?
If you want it to come harder or louder or more rockish or more mellow, you can tell
it that kind of stuff.
Right.
