I think the school was very, very amazing of how Jorge and his family actually managed
to get people to build that.
They help out and ask people to come and help them build it, like how much work it took.
But although the kids, they're just so happy to actually come to a school.
Some people I know at my school that I go to, they walk in the classroom like this.
I hate school, and the kids in Guatemala, they'll walk into school with these huge smiles
on their face, thinking, I'm so blessed to actually have a school, to actually learn
in other than just living on the streets, not knowing anything.
Well it first started that we were in school one day and then this just wonderful day popped
up where my class, well our teacher brought in all this fruit and vegetables and we actually
made a huge soup and we made bread and then we actually had this wonderful, like we actually
got to sit in the library and have this wonderful lunch, we got to eat and drink this, eat the
soup and it was just so fun and then after that this guy Niko came in and he started
talking about all this lending and Kiva things.
So then after that our teacher, she told us that people in the school, they should make
still life paintings of fruit with tables and vases, so we all did that, we drew them
and then we painted them and then we turned them into cards to lend money for people.
And now we're going to tell it, and now we did it with the Guatemalan kids and now they're
so happy because they did it too and they were just so happy to actually learn how to
paint and draw.
I think that for them to help to make these paintings and
to sell them and help their school because they go there for free because their mom and
dad don't have enough money and so they must feel really good and I feel really good that
they are painting these pictures and selling them and getting the money and helping to
make the school bigger and even better.
And so they can go to a really nice happy school.
When we came here and we had to help them, it felt really, I felt really happy to be
actually helping someone other than where we live, then we just sit around and just
play all the time, not help.
So I'm just happy that we actually got to help.
