Hello, I'm Julian Littleford and I own and operate JL Body Conditioning in Delmar, California.
This is Odile and she's going to turn around and be my demonstrator today and I'd like
to thank her again. We've done a lot of podcasts together. Okay, this is the second part. We
did the mat work on trying to turn around and get the pelvis to move correctly while
doing any sort of forward flexion or roll-up or the teaser. We're now going to take that
assisted and place it on the Cadillac. So she's going to take the bar, holding on like
so. I've got it on two yellow springs. The knees are bent. I would have been standing
right here if you remember. She's going to posteriorly tilt her pelvis again, not working
from low to high, but working from high to low so we can posteriorly tilt the pelvis
and roll the spinal column back. Okay, now from there, stay right there, she's going
to pull the belly away from my finger and try and bring the head and shoulders forward
just to there and then gently rolling back. Now what you might see when they're in this
position, can you posteriorly tilt a little more, is that, that is wrong. Okay, that is
using your hip flexors and quadriceps. There should be a lengthening through the abdominal
wall. The belly button, as I said before, should pull down towards the spine as she
comes forward in flexion and gently rolls back. The sacrum should not move. The weight
should remain the same if you place your hand underneath the sacrum. When she rolls back
and come forward, the pressure should be a little bit more when she comes forward. It
should not change when she rolls back and gently up. Now, if you can't get the client
to get to that position, a way that you can teach them this is, come forward slightly
for me, that's good there. You're going to sit behind her like so and back up a little
bit. She's going to gently roll her spinal column back, I'm a little close, a little
more, there. You place your forearm along the angle of the ribcage like so. You pull
the ribs back towards you. If the pelvis lifts, can you lift it slightly? Stay there. You
then place your fingertips on the right crest, push them away as you pull your forearms back
towards you. Then she's going to roll forward. Once again, you start us sitting up nice and
tall, shoulder blades are down, you move. When getting her to bring her ribcage back,
a nice firm touch is always better than a touchy-feely-feely. Laying the hand down solidly
on the client lets them know that you're going to take them through. It's not like
let's go for coffee. Leaving your hands down, you take the bottom rib and you pull it back
towards you, not down. You're already setting up that there's a lengthening process about
to happen. You then place the forearms against the ribcage just below the brass strap, pull
back, place the fingertips on the right crest, continue to pull back as you push away. There's
a nice lengthening in the lower spine there. Then gently come all the way forward and up.
You should have felt a nice lengthening in the lower spine, yes or no? Good, thank you.
Thank you very much indeed. We'll see you next time. Thanks a deal.
