Welcome to the Market Emily Show here in Moab, Utah, brought to you by Life, Fun, and Adventure.
All my life, I've been into sports, ice hockey, gymnastics, softball, whatever it was that my dad got me into as a kid.
And I loved sports, but when I found slacklining, I was able to focus just with myself, able to work with just myself on the line.
And I was not aware of all the things it was going to teach me.
It's taught me patience, it's taught me determination, it's taught me how to deal with fear, most of all.
Because everything in life is scary, you just have to kind of face that fear.
It's not that it's not there, it's, you know, a lot of people ask me, how do you do it, how do you deal with the fear?
And it's not that I'm not scared, it's just that I'm stepping out anyway.
I get a lot of questions as to why I do what I do, especially from people who don't participate in adventure sports.
And I guess my answer is that it keeps me alive, it keeps me going, it keeps me happy, it keeps me challenged.
I love being outside and I love reaching goals I've set for myself and challenging myself, that's what keeps me happy.
What I'm learning more and more as the years go by and I participate in these sports is that you have to follow your passion.
There's no other way, you can't fake it, you can't do something you don't enjoy.
So my philosophy has become to do what I love and life will take me where I belong.
Sure, sure.
Growing up as a kid my dad would always take me to the airport and we would watch skydivers jump in all the time.
This was kind of a form of cheap entertainment and he would tell me all these stories about how he was a skydiver and how he was doing his thing.
And so I knew from the start, I knew since I was five years old that skydiving and parachuting and flying, ultimately flying is exactly what I wanted to do.
The feelings of base jumping, there's so many different feelings that you have and sensations and it all plays into this massive experience that is something that I never dreamed that I'd possibly have.
One of the ways I like to look at it is being a little kid on the swing, at the playground, how they have these swings that would go back and forth.
It feels like that.
I've had so many awesome jumps over the course of base jumping for the last five years. It's been out of control.
I've been to places I never thought I'd be, met hundreds of people that I never thought I would meet. I didn't even know they were out there.
So base jumping has been an awesome gift for me and my life.
As for the best jump that I've ever had or the most memorable jump, definitely what we did recently with Emily being on a highline and then me kind of jumping next to her was that'll probably stand out as one of the best ones that I think I've done.
It's so weird to look and see Emily walk on a highline and be falling away from her as I do my thing and she's doing her thing and surreal, out of control.
Another situation I never thought I'd be in but I actually got lucky enough to be in.
That was a lot of fun. Really good. Everything went to plan. More or less it seemed like the jump wasn't great.
I'll turn my head to the left and see Emily walk in the line as I fell past her. Looks like everybody had the cameras rolling and Emily of course was beautiful and point on as usual.
So we'll try to get tomorrow and see what we get but one thing for sure is we're going to have a lot of good times.
It turned out to be just amazing. Freaking awesomeness. Absolute beauty surrounding us. Life is good. We really like that.
