My name is Jennifer Reeves and I'm the CEO of the international design trade show Blickfang.
Blickfang is an international trade show happening in seven different European cities,
presenting up-and-coming independent fashion, jewelry and furniture designer to a consumer audience.
This year's Blickfang Design Workshop is held in the beautiful domain de Bois-Boucher,
which is an estate in the middle of France and it's all about running a design business.
The workshop was a great experience. First of all I was happy to come to this beautiful place
and meet other professionals with whom I could exchange.
We have Stefan Scholten hosting the design workshop and he works with many different companies
and knows about the design rights, the margin, profit, sales price.
The workshop was really interesting to see like 12 designers, some of them are just starting,
others are very far in their career, it's very inspirational to see all these ideas.
I think they have all the same interest in that they want to work or with the industry or they want to self-produce.
I'm Robert Manners, I'm from Stuttgart, Germany. I designed the Wire Lights.
I was a technician at the Bosch Company. I just jumped into creativity, wanted to change my life
and I came here to Bois-Boucher to work on my business concept.
All the designers on the workshop, they want to design great products
and they want those products to go out into the world and to be successful
and the workshop helps designers figure out the best route for them.
One of the strong themes of this year's workshop is how designers need to think about themselves as a brand.
Most of them have extremely strong design skills, their products are beautiful
but they don't necessarily think enough about the position of that product in the market.
The process of the workshop brought out parts of the label Eva Blue which need to be improved.
The creators of the workshop and also the other participants, they put their finger exactly there
and they already had a clue that the image world of Eva Blue must become much stronger.
My name is Veronique Baer, I'm a product designer and I'm based in the Netherlands.
I brought a series of chairs to the Blickvang Design Workshop.
They're called Bounce Family and they're really comfortable.
When I came to the workshop I thought about bounce like a domestic product
but during this workshop I found out that it's actually a really nice item which could connect people
so it's a nice product for the public spaces.
I could play with the dimensions so that lots of people could sit on one bounce at the same time.
You see really in their eyes during the three days that they are vibrant about an idea
or they want to go home with a new concept or they have finally find the energy again to approach this market.
All the feedback is honest so it's very helpful and if you have a four-eye chat with the curators
they really push you to another level because they really have the experience
and they give you just little tips and then you figure it out.
Yeah, of course.
