Platform is the arts organisation at the heart of the bridge, a set of joined up opportunities for the local people of Easter house, the city of Glasgow and artists.
Platform approached Ambition Scotland earlier this year to see whether we could support their digital development.
They undertook the Ambition approach and we're here to catch up with them about how they're getting on.
Platform aims to be at the heart of the community. We have a wide programme of participation.
We run evening classes for drama, music, choir, dancing and we have a wide programme of performances as well, bringing the best of theatre and music to this venue in Easter house.
We also manage the open plan cafe which very much is the hub of activity and we programme activities for it such as the play cafe for under force and the Sunday social.
The needs that we recognise around our Make It Happen programme was very much around infrastructure and hardware.
We're using the same server and computers as we were using when we opened eight years ago so clearly they're struggling.
That was absolutely a priority for us and linked to the conversation that came out of the consultation.
We discovered that we were operating at a very low broadband speed so the moment Easter house is one to two megs whereas the city average is around 20 megs so that put a lot of sense around some of the problems that we were having.
So I guess the infrastructure with the problems around connectivity were very much part of the needs that we identified early on.
Ann Bonner worked with us, she was the consultant and the first thing Ann done was really bring the team together in a focus session and that was really interesting because what the team highlighted was the need for a good website.
Our website is very very basic and it was nice to have that reinforced fully amongst the team that a website should sit at the core of our digital planning.
That was then reinforced through a survey monkey that we done with our customers and audience and they really reinforced the same message.
I think the benefits for us as a team was gaining clarity.
We felt that we also wanted to have online ticketing, that was something that the sector have out there as a matter of course and we wanted to have that but not really as an end in itself.
It was about facilitating a more mobile kind of set of opportunities for us in order that we could take our programmes out into the community because we do a lot of work in the community as well as programme venue.
We were actually out and about a lot so we felt with the mobile devices and the ability to sell online that would be a big advantage in how we work with our communities.
The digital world is a bit of a minefield and it was great to work through and get to where we really wanted to be. Working with Anne it gave us the confidence in the implementation plan we were putting together and we now feel we've got a digital strategy that fits with our business strategy to take us forward.
The implications of the project are exciting, big investment for us and lots of resource to find. We need to radically upgrade our server and our IT system but also our broadband speed and we need to upgrade and revamp the website, online ticketing and also invest in more mobile devices in order that we can actually take our programme out into the communities that we work in.
