I generally have been playing video games for as long as I can remember, probably since
I've been six when I first got my NES and started out with the Mario Duck Hunt.
Well I enjoy playing video games because they're a great escape, they're a great stress relief,
they're a lot more interactive than just sitting down and watching a movie per se because
you actually have control over everything that's happening and that's something I actually
enjoy a lot.
This is my favorite character, Samusura, and I love her.
I love dressing up as her and I'm here to represent her as a Nintendo character even
though it's freezing out here.
I've been here since yesterday into last night.
I went home for a little bit and I came back early this morning.
I'm here actually with SOS Gamers, we're a charity organization and right now we're
taking donations for Japan Relief and by donating five dollars it would get you a
raffle ticket to win a free 3DS.
And it's been really cool meeting other gamers and talking to them, just hanging out, even
though it's freezing out here we've still managed to have fun.
I've been out here since 10am yesterday, yesterday morning, Friday, I'm from Union
Square actually, I'm from 12th Street in Avenue C. I actually wanted to surprise my
daughter whose birthday is today with a Nintendo 3DS but you know, being a mom I had to go
pick her up so the cat came out of the bag but she's totally surprised that she's getting
one and you know, I did it for her basically.
I tore a ligament in my knee about four weeks ago and tore the meniscus and the ACL and
I'm waiting for her results from MRI but I said you know what, she comes first, it hurts
but it's okay.
It stimulates her brain to see her at her young age doing what she does, she knows how
to do the avatar, she knows how to do the Sims games, she's been doing this since it's like
two years old with her own PSP, me as a mother, you know other people say oh no the games
are not for the kids, it stimulates her brain, it makes her think and she does strategy so
why not?
She's excellent in school, first grade, I mean come on, let her have fun.
I'm Julian Keller and I'm here waiting for the official launch of the Nintendo 3DS here
at Best Buy at Union Square and I've been here since about 430 yesterday.
Usually whenever Nintendo launches a new console I'm always there to support it day one.
I loved my Nintendo DS to death and I like 3D stuff so I really wanted 3DS not to mention
that there's a lot of good games I feel coming out for it down the pipeline.
I'm dressed up as Captain Falcon and he's the protagonist from the series F-Zero and
he's also a fighter in another Nintendo franchise known as Super Smash Brothers.
This outfit I actually made this with my father back in 2008 for the Nintendo Power 20th anniversary
event at Nintendo World Store.
There was a lot of people at that event like over 3,000 or something and they had a costume
contest with like 100 participants and this costume got me the first place prize which
got me a DS light at the time and a trophy and a picture of Nintendo power.
My name is Isaiah Triforce Johnson, everybody calls me Triforce because it's part of my
legal name.
We've been waiting here since Monday for the release of Nintendo's new technological
3D handheld.
Pretty much I've been here since Monday because I've grown a tradition to be the first in
a lot of Nintendo's launch arm party, video games, systems and actual consoles.
So pretty much the reason why I like that tradition is because I just like to keep first
place.
I've been rotating in and out with a couple of my friends.
I managed to stay warm out in this freezing New York weather because guess why it's been
so gracious to allow me to go in and out of their store to warm up a little bit and pretty
much my friends rotated with me so I can go home and get a change of clothes and what
not and come back in a couple hours later.
So it's been bearable.
The day times are great because the sun comes off but the night times it becomes atrocious.
So overall I'm just glad it's Saturday so in less than 10 hours everyone will be getting
the Nintendo 3DS.
I can finally go home, play Street Fighter with my boys and pilot wings and pretty much
enjoy the system.
