Hi, I'm Leon Dolens from Haiti Outreach Ministries in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
Haiti has been a hard place to live, long before the earthquake happened.
From the time Columbus landed here till now, it has been a land of political fighting,
economic struggles, and natural disasters.
Then, in 2010, something happened to us that your worst nightmare couldn't even dream of.
In 32 seconds, 200,000 people died.
A million were left homeless, and so many others were injured.
Every time we thought we were making some progress,
something else happened to push us backward.
So often, people will ask where God was in all this.
Many pray like the Psalms.
Wake up! Get up!
My God and my Lord, fight for me and bring me justice.
But what I want to tell you is that God is at work in Haiti.
We have seen healing coming out of the brokenness of our land.
Our churches have more people worshipping than ever before.
We have seen God working through the faithful service of so many friends from around the world.
In partnership with the Outreach Foundation, we have built churches, schools, and houses.
We have started pre-school programs, fed children who wouldn't get a heart meal at home,
created vocational programs to give people jobs,
and operated medical and dental clinics to make people well.
And through the Outreach Foundation, many church work teams have come to serve alongside us.
Helping us run clinics, have vacation bables, old programs, build houses, or replace roofs.
Sometimes it's easy to look around Haiti and become overwhelmed.
But God is bigger than all of this.
He works through His people to improve life, both physically and spiritually.
There is hope for Haiti.
And I'm thankful to the Outreach Foundation for helping connect God's people with God's work and the world, right here in Haiti.
Come and join us in the Outreach Foundation in turning the world upside down, sharing and showing Jesus' love.
