So if you look at our stockings right now there are three stockings and it's a
two-person family. My mom needle points, she's a big needle pointer, big needle
pointer. When we first got married she debuted Matt's newest stocking. Mine has
been around since a while, like I don't think 19 anyone but maybe a few years
after. It's my stocking my whole life. I've had that stocking. Everyone's stocking went
one way and then Matt's stocking went the other way and it was it was like a plague
on the stockings. I think the thing that's important to remember is that Matt's
Jewish, like everyone's stocking is really slender and then Matt's is fat. My
name is beautiful in script and Matt's is just like Matt in print. I would like to
make the almonds, the spicy almonds, so we have everything to make them and I
would like to eat them now.
Okay so today we're gonna make some holiday cocktails, three to be specific.
Okay we're gonna start with Martha Stewart, Chartreuse cocktail according to
an ancient 1605 formula, see? A quarter cup of gin, I'm doing a scant quarter cup
of both. Then you add some lime juice. Then we have the simple syrup, which
simple syrup which is just half cup sugar, half cup water boiled until the
sugar dissolves. So I'm gonna do just a little bit. Then I'm just gonna pour it
up. I think it's gonna need more lime.
A little bit of that. Garnish with the lime.
It's weird, like the Chartreuse is weird. I mean, it tastes kind of medicinal.
I've got to say, maybe I need some more lime juice.
So we're moving on to eggnog. Okay one egg, one tablespoon of powdered sugar, one
glass of anyspirit. I don't know, I just have a vodka. Fill a glass of milk. Now it's
just shake well and strain and do a long tumbler. Okay so we don't have a shaker.
I'm gonna use this. The Savoy cocktail book says to really shake something if
you're gonna shake it, so that's why we should have used this. I am aware.
This is not an ideal strainer.
Alright so maybe don't try this unless you have a actual functioning cocktail
shaker strainer freshly grated nutmeg.
Yeah, it's good. It's totally good. It's weird to think about drinking a raw egg,
but next drink is the pink rose cocktail. The pink rose cocktail begins with the egg
white. One teaspoon of grenadine, a teaspoon of lemon juice, one teaspoon
sweet cream, and then to that it says two-thirds glass dry gin. That's a little,
that's a lot of gin. Oh, that's cheerful. Shall we try it? I don't love it.
Honestly, I think my favorite was this guy. Number one, after you added a lot of
lime, it tasted really refreshing. So you're gonna toast these until they become
fragrant. Any kind of snack would be good. Now,
I'm gonna eyeball it. So it's about 30 seconds.
Wow. I just inhaled some spices. Oh, jeez. Oh, man. So these would go well with the
cocktails, maybe before you've had them. That's nice.
You did great. We paid a lot for this chartreuse song, so I'm gonna finish it.
