This year as GYC teamed up with the Texas Conference to do a one million glow
mission trip, we were reminded as GYC leadership why we do these kinds of
things. One million glow. One million glow. Is it possible to put over one
million pieces of literature into an entire place? To cover the place with
truth-filled literature? It is. In fact, I've been experiencing it here in one
million glow Houston, Texas. And from the beginning it was, the ship took off
rather quickly. In fact, the missionaries weren't supposed to get here
until the 21st, but when we walked into the facility there was already a
couple waiting to join us. Early. These missionaries coming early because they
wanted to partake of the mission that was at hand. We're living in interesting
times and it is our Christian duty to be able to share the truth that you and I
know. We live in a dark world. We live in a dark place and it's our duty to shed
light upon this area. Now you may be thinking, one million glow, can I go
do something like that? We had youngsters as young as 16 and 17, even a
15-year-old who was here. And we had older people as well join us. This is
something that anyone and everyone should do. We have one million glow
mission trips coming up in the United States and out of the United States. Now
I want to encourage you to visit the websites and to see where what one
million glow you can participate in. Doing these glow mission trips, it's a
beautiful thing to see the community being reached on such a large scale. The
interest that I have and that Ellen White largely talks about is when people do
evangelism, when church members do evangelism, not only does it bless the
community, but it's actually a bigger blessing for them. Even the Bible itself
says it's more blessed to give than to receive. Ellen White also mentions in
other places that the best medicine you can give the church is not
sermonizing them, but actually planning work for them. One of the main visions of
GUIC is to help young people learn what it is to embrace a call to radical
evangelism in just an entire life of missionary service. One of the missions
that we hope and pray that all young people will live by is that they just
know how to be a Christian ambassador wherever they go. One million glow. From
the beginning it was awesome to see people from all different types of walks
of life, all different upbringings and backgrounds and from across the United
States coming together for one purpose. The unity that was felt was
inexplainable, but I guess that's what naturally happens when everybody has the
same mindset and that is to serve Jesus through literature. It has been an
experience of a lifetime. Our day-to-day routine goes from working together, doing
chores together, cleaning, preparing for the day, eating together and then hitting
the field together. We would split up into groups of six missionaries with
the leader in a minivan and head out to the streets. We would blink at
neighborhoods, shopping centers, everything that we could possibly glow. We
glowed. This literature has opened the eyes of many and we want the eyes of
Houston, Texas to be opened as well, just like our eyes were open when we
hurt when we first heard the truth. A lady comes up to me and asks me halfway
through the mission trip she says how can I do something like this back home
and I began to tell her and explain to her and then I asked her just casually I
say well where are you from and she says I'm from Alaska and I thought to
myself wait a minute I'm basically a hundred percent confident that we
haven't had the chance to take this up to Alaska in an intentional way and this
lady has it upon her heart to do something in Alaska and as a result of
that not only are people going to be reached in Alaska but just like all the
missionaries that were motivated and inspired with this experience her church
members are in turn going to be motivated and inspired. It was awesome to
see the missionaries they would sing songs and hymns as they were working it
wasn't a typical workplace. It reminded me of Jesus and the desire of ages were
reread that he used to actually sing hymns as he worked in the carpenter's
shop. There was unity amongst the missionaries. There are many who don't
know the truth and we had Bible pamphlets like the gift of joy that talked
about righteousness by faith. We had pamphlets on why go to church on Saturday
that talked about honoring God's fourth commandment. We had tracks on when
freedom dies that actually talked about Revelation 13 and and the things to
expect in the near future. So the one million glow they don't just represent
one million people that will be one to get to the kingdom. We don't know how
many people are going to take that glow and pass it on or they're going to take
that glow and set it down somewhere because they're done with it or take
that glow and even throw it away. Which has happened many times and someone else
is going to find that. The trash man is going to find it. He's going to read it
and he's going to pass it on and it's going to find its way around his
circle and numberless people are going to be saved as a result of one track. We're
not just reaching one million people. We have no idea the amount of people that
we're reaching.
So as we teamed up with the Texas conference we were so grateful for the
collaboration that we had and knowing that not only did we reach our goal of
getting all the literature out but the larger goal of seeing Christian young
people re-inspired and recommitted to give their entire lives to God in service.
