My former boyfriend and I had put down a deposit on a noof puppy and the breeder of the noofs
called us the day before we were supposed to go pick up our puppy and said that she'd
given away our dog to a little girl who had cancer and that our deposit would go towards
her next litter and we said that that wasn't okay and we asked for our money back and then
the next day we looked in the newspaper and saw lab puppies for $50 and that's how we ended up
with Baker so he cost us 50 bucks and he came home and he was about three or four pounds like
he was really small and we named him Baker my dad actually came up with the name Baker because he
has a little bit of brown in him and he's got this dark brown sheen and he looks like Baker's
chocolate so he was named after Baker's chocolate Baker is my baby he's my best friend he's probably
one of the only friends that has been a constant over the last nine years in my life he's been
with me through everything I would never have someone in my life that didn't accept him a hundred
percent I he's a priority I bought my car because it was appropriate for him I derive him everywhere
I try to bring him everywhere I can with me he's my absolute best friend and pretty much the reason
I go to work every day Baker is the best thing in my entire life and he's he is my humanity
well we came in to meet with an oncologist as a referral from our vet on Tuesday morning and
she had a look at Baker's x-rays because he's been limping for a while and she thought it looked
like our osteosarcoma which is bone cancer
who's that
so from here we talked about chemotherapy would be the next step in this treatment yeah and
usually we use two different drugs one is called doxoriburcin and we start with that one first
then they get three doses once every two weeks okay and then we follow that with three doses of
a drug called carbapod okay okay so both of the drugs are usually really well-tallinated especially
with dogs with osteosarcoma because they don't have any systemic illness but it is the same
chemotherapy drugs that people get so potential side effects will be stomach upset nausea, vomiting,
diarrhea, decreased appetite so with the first treatment I send you home with a little care
package with one medication for diarrhea one for nausea vomiting or decreased appetite just so
you have it on hand that way you don't have to be coming to a work-and-see plugin yeah I don't want to have to do that
