Discovered at an Irish dance competition at the age of 14,
Supermodel Coco Rocha has come a long way since she walked her first runway back in 2006.
Recently, the catwalk veteran caused a bit of a stir when she said publicly that in her opinion,
the models are starting out in the industry too young.
Of course, there's people there that turn out okay in this industry that start really young.
I hope that I'm one of them, but it is definitely hard to start off so young
and try and remember who you are and where you come from and why you're doing this.
MUSIC
When I got into this industry, I didn't really know what was happening.
I was just flattered that I even kind of got a job and then that they continued to use me.
And then over the years, my agents were like,
maybe you should get into other things, have a hobby or a passion.
And I thought, well, yeah, okay.
And they're like, well, maybe be part of an organization that helps others.
And I thought, how about helping kids? That would be a smart choice.
MUSIC
Looking to do something above and beyond modeling,
Rocha threw an event to raise funds for an orphanage
that was destroyed in Haiti's devastating earthquake.
I thought this is the perfect opportunity to take my stand
and what I do and help young ones.
If it be in Haiti, in Cambodia, if it's kids in America, Canada,
that has been my newfound love.
MUSIC
Rocha collaborated with her artist husband, James Conran,
and decided to document her work with a film.
There was heart, sweat and blood put into this that I'm really excited about.
And I mean, after a while, you know, you watch it over and over and over.
You're like, is it good? Do you think it's good? I don't know.
Is it really good? Okay, maybe it is good.
So now hearing from our family and friends,
they're like, you did really good.
They're like, all right, I think we can show it to people now.

Recently, Rocha was back in Toronto,
hosting a new event called The Shows
and celebrating the world premiere of her new film.
We caught up with the recently married model
and followed her around on her big day.
So we are here at The Shows at the Ritz,
which we're backstage at Hair and Makeup, getting ready for our two shows,
as well as my movie premiere, Let Us to Haiti.
MUSIC
All right, we're done here.
Next up, make, no, that was makeup.
Hair, no, we're closed, that's it.
MUSIC
This is my cat Dracula.
Everyone goes cray-cray for Todd Lynn.
Look at those shoes.
They look like Lady Gaga.
They look like they could eat you.
But yeah, I think we're done.
Good afternoon and welcome.
Do you like my radio voice? I do.
Thank you.
Good afternoon and welcome to The Shows.
Following the next show, I'd like to invite you to rejoin us after a quick break,
following Thomas Tate presenting the world premiere of my film, Let Us to Haiti.

As if she wasn't busy enough, Rocha is now designing jewelry.
Rocha created Seven Pieces for Senoa, a non-profit organization
that supports victims of human trafficking.
In the end, I learned a lot about jewelry and clothing.
I kind of understand a bit of cut and cloth and so forth,
but jewelry was all new for me.
MUSIC
This has been designed by me, yes.
I'm very proud of this piece because it's something, I mean, all of them I would wear,
but I have noticed I've been wearing this a lot lately.
MUSIC
Models get a hard rap for what we do.
These girls are some smart girls.
If you give them the opportunity to do something with what they have,
they will, they'll show you, they'll prove to you they really could do something.
MUSIC
And bye-bye.
Thanks for watching.
Be away.
