You
I
think our society has been trained to not really listen to music but just to
have it in the background and to hear it you know somewhere just floating around
just playing and when you hear a real band playing how they are how they feel
at the moment it has a spirit of jazz which I think we have it's been lost in
society. Here in Orlando especially we don't have a lot of blues and blues rock.
Jazz is rock and roll. It is. It's really the last greatest invention that we've had
in music in our lifetimes. It's almost sad to see that you know that we really
don't know where we're coming from and Team Steffen Band they know you know
they have roots and I think that's something that's missing in music
American music today.
Thank y'all so very much.
My name is David Martyr and I play drums with the Team Steffen Band. I actually
started playing guitar and let's just say guitar wasn't my forte so I moved on
to drums and you know since then really been focusing on drumming. I kind of just
came in filling in doing it every a couple weeks and turned into where you
know just felt good and we all sounded good together so I started playing with
them more often. We're all pretty diverse in terms of you know what kind of
music we listen to so it naturally comes out and the way that we play so you're
never really going to hear the same set every night. It's normally you know we
try to add something to a different every night so that's kind of cool about it.
My name is Todd Worcing I play bass guitar with the Team Steffen Band.
Everybody else was playing guitar and so I wanted to just have something a little
different. I decided to play the bass and started playing on about 14. Blues is a
good American style it's soul music to me you know it's a lot of feeling in it so
I enjoy that. You know being able to relate to those artists just like many
you know with the great songs you've ever heard I'm sure that you can put
yourself and say well I felt just like that or you know how many we've all
been there. So yeah just to relate experiences of life.
My name is Teague Steffen I actually grew up I was born in Virginia and grew up
there moved to North Carolina spent a little bit of time there. I finished up
college while I was living in North Carolina was looking for a new place to live and
figured I'd come down to Orlando and check it out. I always liked like the
old stuff like Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix and that I grew up around that
my mom and dad were big into that music. Teague Steffen is his that's his middle name.
Our last name is Beckel. It's TSB are his initials so that's how the TSB came about.
Right when I was about 17 or so I picked up the guitar and started playing that and that really became
like my main instrument from there. You know you get to do a lot of melody with it
kind of a big game of melody and that kind of you know that's I guess that's
the part about playing guitar that I enjoy. I had no idea he was gonna do this.
We neither one of us did. Playing guitar professionally never never came across the board.
If you are an appreciator of fine guitar artistry both the bass player,
athlete, guitarist and drummer are some of the best I've seen in a long time.
And they play this kind of roadhouse bluesy sound with you know some rock kind of pushed in there.
The trio feel is kind of reminiscent of you know Hendrix and the experience you know kind of like
you know that trio feel with the rock and then it's just pure music right there.
It's just holding on the groove. There's no backup stuff there. You can hear all the music.
You can hear them playing. They're really good you know what I'm saying.
They're natural and they play not what's written down or you know not what they have pre-playing
but when you're on stage they play what they feel.
They've got a raw good live sound with blues. It's a very very positive thing.
It's easy to bob your head to it or as they're doing inside dance and shaking their booty to it so it's good stuff.
It's songs, it's great songwriting, great artists, great performance.
For as long as he's been playing guitar he's just a phenomenal guitar player.
A lot of fun to watch. In fact his live shows are just incredible.
The blues rock thing so far they're the only ones that I've heard with the trio.
That power trio that's so clean and nice. They catch my attention. That makes them different.
As Hendricks came back and you wanted to make them smile you let them see this band.
You'll be like okay these guys got it. These guys got it. They've been listening. They've been studying.
They know what they're doing you know what I'm saying.
Well if you like rock and roll and musicians who can improvise and know their instruments
then you will probably dig this. When it feels good I mean it's hard not to like it.
I think music is definitely an individual thing and everyone kind of has their own thing going on which is cool.
I've had a lot of people like winter woodstock come out and see us you know and they're like man this is the kind of stuff we used to listen to.
And then you know a lot of people that come out that are younger and you know they're into it.
They're like listen to Zeppelin and all the stuff.
