Is anything else I can ramble about mom can you turn the TV down just a tad bit
just a tad bit I don't know or Moe Howard says Moe Howard's cut with a Hitler moustache
the script for pizza was probably the easiest thing I've ever written it was Phil Lister's
idea and the moment he told me about it I just knew that it was a fantastic concept the
whole thing just fell in place right in front of me as soon as he mentioned the concept I
knew exactly what it was going to look like you know there were some ideas sort of floating
around and then the idea popped into my head I typed in you know I just typed in something
about the the concept of well what if we took cops I had this I had this idea from years
ago and I said what if you took you know the show cops and replaced the police officers
with pizza delivery people and you know I got the greatest response out of Greg I you
know I don't remember exactly what he typed but I know at one point he typed that when
he read what I had typed he laughed out loud and that was it right there he decided he
was going to write the script I had no problem with that because I know he's a really good
writer and he wrote the script I don't think it took him long at all to write the script
and we had a we had a finished script and he had all these characters written in there
and it was funny almost flawless really had a lot of potential to just make a funny story
and you know it was Phil Lister's idea and when he told me about it I just knew that
it was going to work it was just it was very exciting to sit down and write something that
has not been done before I've never seen this particular parody created by anybody else
I haven't seen anybody else do this no one's ever taken cops and combined it with pizza
driver it's a really fascinating idea that's because I'm serious look I said I ordered
with no onions no onions that's because I'm serious I said no onions no onions he did
actually I am the pizza manager so I'm in charge of the
of the pizza store pizza shop I'm in charge of the pizza shop and it's my responsibility
to make sure that these people have the training and skills necessary to do the the pizza delivery
piece of it so I give the pep talks and send them out on their way
so good job now the bad news I know I'm just going to love this come on stay alert remember
your training I play like the sergeant if you will of the at the cops in the evening
briefing and and then each of the drivers have some very interesting interactions with the
public which also happens on cops the pizza he ordered he ordered it with onions yeah
there were a number of funny moments on the set there was one in the beginning the first
scene that the scene that I'm in we actually are in a youth center like a community center
we went there and set it up so that it looked like the briefing room and the pizza shop
and when we are we are going through looking at the classes and stuff like that we came
across some like African clothes and some bongos and we pulled out the bongos and put
them out and we're playing the bongos with the African clothes when when one of the producers
was coming in to to the to the set and so we were we were chanting his name so that
was a lot of fun you just have a lot of iron going on here with this movie about pizza delivery
oh yeah pizza delivery guys yeah I've seen them all that's pretty interesting gotta say
that's a first but this is sarno pizza the best pizza in town
chewy thank you very much I appreciate it that you want a little bit more messy
I actually joined the the space coast talent group cuz JR told me about it so I joined
it and then literally the week I joined it you guys were talking with Greg had just Greg
and Phil just finished pizza and they posted auditions and I went there first audition
ever ready action oh my god I can't believe you thought that I just wanted my pizza on
the set of pizza very relaxed it was it was Greg made a very relaxed set one everyone
have fun but that's what you do when you're especially doing a comedy you kind of try
to set the atmosphere of the of the setup how you're gonna be filming and since this
is a comedy you want everyone to be light and so we had you know a lighter set we ate
a lot of pizza also on set that was that was nice but things were not always as they appeared
on the set of pizza soon the real story of what went on came to light you know what really
happened on the set of pizza it wasn't all just pizza and tips okay there was drug use
there was alcohol abuse I think that one of the cameras got broken because the boom operator
was so intoxicated that he could barely stand up okay and then I look over and then the
main guys over snorting the irons on somebody's porch okay you know there's got there's there's
neighbors around little kids out in the street they're looking over there he actually stopped
what he was doing looked at a group of little kids across the street and tried to get them
to come over my role well of course Hitler so you can't tell now
with the mustache growing back but preparing for the role I actually went online Phil was
talking about the YouTube videos where you know they would dub over Hitler's Hitler's
monologue and put in whatever they felt like it I mean making fun of a d80 or whatever
so I kind of started looking at that and watching German cartoons a lot of Simpsons in German
kind of to hear it again and kind of get the mind to click back into the German mode it's
it's interesting it's like almost like a switch when you have to speak two different languages
and you got to prime the switch a little bit it just doesn't flip over you have to kind
of think about it and immerse yourself in the language a little before you actually
start speaking the language with any kind of confidence I'm just gonna go the way through
even if I pronounce every word completely wrong the makeup and the Hitler mustache that
was interesting first I usually wear a goatee so that's that all I had to go and then I
had to grow my hair I usually keep it kind of short so you know grow it out so you can
do that Hitler comb over and you know we're sitting there ahead of time getting it ready
to go you know just totally buzz clipping the sides of my hair and bringing my sideburns
up to here and it looked really good I mean we had the picture of Hitler in a picture
of me but yeah I had to shave that off right away before I headed home yeah didn't didn't
really want to be in that really uncomfortable situation pulling up next to the car next
to you and just looking over and being like hi I'm Hitler well I know what it is that
we don't waste the piece show me you're amazing in the love of my life this night would be
nothing without sure will you marry me laughing at me I can't think this seriously show me
Phil had the camera my face and the light was right my face and stuff I was having a hard
time and I was really nervous about getting the driving down you know the really be driving
with this camera light right my face and everything and I was so distraught you know and kind
of distracted by that I forgot to turn the car lights on and so we're filming pizza a
pizza driver cop documentary and in the middle of a scene we start getting pulled over by
the real police and it was just so ironic my real career in pizza lasted about 12 years
from the time I was a 15 year old phone girl to the time I was a general manager for about
six years something that sticks out in my mind was actually the guy's reaction
in the final scene is what stuck up in my mind the most there's just one little line and
I just found it hilarious so who's gonna clean this stuff up I thought that was I thought
that made the scene right there that's what tips are for hey who's gonna clean this stuff
up I mean Space Coast film girl kid me Space Coast film human trafficking they actually
stuck me in the trunk of the car after they abused me and drove me around a bunch of circles
and they have they had this thing in the backseat that would pull the backseat forward and every
so often they would take it down and say you ready to come out and I say yes and then it's
slightly and then put it back up I didn't understand that and I was uncomfortable with that hey
what are you doing man all right sorry man listen but you told me that we weren't gonna
have this will we consider doing sequels that is something that has already come up either
a sequel or a spin-off series I think we want to wait to see how well this one does and
what parts people like and what parts they don't I think that might help tailor any future
efforts on our part to create something that follows this little lineage that we're creating
I have to say I really enjoyed working with everybody on pizza everybody really pulled
through and did a great job phenomenal actors they knew their lines when they got to the
sets it was a fair amount of ad-libbing going on which I thought worked well because it
was a documentary and everybody was supposed to sound natural and they did that was probably
one of the best things about this film is that everybody just sounds so natural in it
and really made it work because if they had hammed it up I don't think it would have worked
nearly as well everybody plays it straight and there's some really ridiculous situations
that we've presented them with I have to say as far as a production department I can't
say enough good things about them we had Phil Lister did the designs and application for
the pepperoni spray which was in fact Evian water bottles which we modified to spray a
stream and Phil did the labels for that which came out absolutely fantastic he also did
the labels for the flash bang cola which also were fantastic it's almost a shame we didn't
get a little bit closer up shots of them because they just look so good Michelle Harrow designed
the patches on the shirts and those came out fantastic I think they really work and then
she also did the design for the pizza logo itself which appears on the front of the shirts
and then I got to give a special shout out to Tammy and Terry Cheek who actually applied
the patches to the shirts and worked very hard to get that done.
