If there were a single image that could symbolize college, it would be the solo cup.
So then Gerald comes into class literally covered in string cheese.
He's just covered it and this is Robinson just turns to him and she's like,
is he coming? No, it's still working.
What was she saying? She's just like, Gerald.
He's like, get out of my classroom.
He's been really about string cheese for the past five minutes.
No, come on, that's so funny.
Hey, we missed you the other night.
I'm sorry. Come have a drink.
No. Why not?
I'm working.
What? Nothing.
What? How long does it have to be?
It's not about length. Then what's it about?
You said it's not about length, so what's it about?
Where's it going? This isn't a question of whether or not you're a good writer.
It's just you've been working on this for so long already.
Yeah. Yeah, what? David, I'm talking to you. Look at me.
This is great. No, really, David, this is great.
You've got an interesting character, a compelling voice
and the description. I love the mystification, but I want to know more.
Don't get me wrong. This is a beautiful snapshot into the character,
but who is he? What does he do when he's home?
Who are his friends? How does he live in a world full of social
interactions?
David, I'm talking to you. Look at me.
I've seen what this does to you. You get wrapped up in your head and you lose
yourself. I'm not lost. I'm doing this because I feel like it's
actually getting me somewhere. If you need to go out with a bunch of
people that don't actually know you in order to feel whole, do it.
For that, I have to. To feel whole? What the fuck? David, I'm here because
I care about you. You're the one who disappears. You're the
you're the one who ignores his friends. You're the reason I'm worried because
David, you do get lost and you like it.
I would never want to get in your way of making something beautiful,
but you have your whole life to write. You have me until graduation.
Can I read it? Yeah.
