You
You
You're looking back on life Wondering where way to go
How was I to know?
If you were to cover me My hope was that so sure that there was nothing
Inside love for me
I hear you call You guide it all for me
I hear you call You guide it all for me
Then your love came to me Opened my eyes so I could see that I was worth more than I could know
Now all I have is yours I just think about all you are and all you've done
I'm alive and here to stay No one can take you away from me
No one can take you away No, no, no
You seek me, you hurt me I know that you were there
And you love me, you show me That you were always there
You were there, you were there How do you talk this you call me
I grew up in a musical home and my family played a lot of instruments so I started out playing drums
I got inspired one day though when I was a teenager, a friend of mine, she played piano and sang and played guitar
But it was beautiful because she really sang with a lot of heart
It was inspiring and in my heart the more I grew in God I wanted to write this play My Acoustic
From there I started to write You Were There one day I was at my brother's place and we were just jamming
And I picked up the bass and just did a little bass riff and I liked the sound of it
That night I went home and tried it again on my acoustic because I'm curious how this is going to sound
It just brought me back to thinking about my childhood, my life, how I used to think
And just where I was at and it just made me reflect a lot
And that's how the song started to evolve and that's why the lyrics were looking back on life
It's just funny because music pulls a lot of things out of you that you really didn't even realize was there at the time
It's like you go through this process in life and as you discover who you are in Christ
And it's just like he pulls these things out of you and you become more whole as a person
There's a popular quote, it's find out who you are and do it on purpose
You just find out who you are and who you belong to and you just want to be who that person is the way God created you to be
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
