Hey, I'm Samantha, photographer and artist living in Berlin.
In 2006 I had been to Mexico for a photo documentary.
Five months, black and white on 35 millimeters.
With my Mexican friend I traveled all over the south and middle part of the country
during the presidential elections in a very difficult political climate.
We often crossed the counter-movement la otra campaña of the Zabatistas E7LN.
During this emotional trip I learned more about these amazing people, places, the conflicts and problems.
The everyday life of the indigenous people.
In the small village of Atenco my travel found a sudden end by getting violently arrested.
I was accused of political interference by taking pictures without permission.
After two days of prison I was deported from the country on an escorted flight back to Frankfurt.
No negatives, no equipment, no luggage. That was tough.
I'm glad that my friend could at least send me all the negatives that we developed during our journey.
It took some time, quite a long time to handle all this.
Now I'm ready to finish the project. The idea is to publish a photo book called Mexico, Me and Mexico.
Together with my curator I selected 114 photographs out of 4000.
I focused on the importance of everyday life, from campaign to campaign, from the World Water Forum to the workers demonstrations,
from tourists to the country people.
Discover a small part of Mexican history with my work, grainy, genuine, beneath the surface.
I need your support for the graphics and the printing. Get the first copies as a signed limited edition with an extra print,
followed by a wonderful essay of John Burger in English, Spanish and German.
That's why I need your help. With you the next step is going to happen.
You can even help me by sharing the link and spreading the word.
Thank you. Gracias. Dankeschö.
