History traces the rain stick back to ancient Iceland.
The natives of the Vaglaskur forest collected hollow birch limbs they thought bestowed supernatural
influence and good luck.
They shook them over new babies, harvest meals, a sort of fresh ground pepper seasoning on
what they valued most in life.
Unfortunately what was really inside was a poisonous tree pest so that tiny little sprinkles
caused skin disorders, hallucinations, and in many cases extreme bowel compaction.
Not a happy ending, but it inspired a rich musical tradition of which I am proud to
carry on.
So today I have arranged my own solo concert to help reinvigorate its fertile heritage.
Oh yes, are you directing the audience to the areas of best acoustical vibrations?
I posted the signs directing to the signs directing to the places of highest resonance.
Did you get any of the emails that I sent?
I stick to what I do best around here, I turn on the lights and I turn off the lights.
Oh but not so fast, I got this upside down cake barking stuff at me about a Q&A talk
back and synergy?
So lights off.
Please do this for you.
So lights on.
Hello all everyone.
The best places to sit are remember to fill out your questionnaires when you go.
It's high mean, Iceland.
Thank you, enjoy the read-a-stick.
I teach music at the Middleton Classical School and this is not music.
Some may argue it's percussion, but that's also not music.
It's got to be like tiny microphones in there.
Maybe magnets, magnets.
It's not magic, I know that.
I thought it was really great, impressive mastery of that stick, I mean the hand works.
I thought she's just rubbed raw.
Hard on the back too.
I'd really like to try it sometime.
Your self can teach you a lot about yourself.
I wanted recognition, I wanted acceptance, but this reminded me how it felt the first
time.
