We started our company in 2009. We were so excited with so much enthusiasm. It was a
perfect partnership on telly stories. We met in university, we both have a degree in film
studies and we wanted to be filmmakers. But it took us almost two years to develop a
three-minute documentary for CineLan and we ended up using a modified version of a teaser
trailer that we originally cut to pitch the broadcast version. And that's when we realized
we could use a more controlled environment, like fiction.
We needed a strategy to adapt, something we could fit in. When we run into Wakefield, well,
that was it. The Wakefield variation, a short film and the possible pilot for a web series was
born. We immediately started looking for a production team. This is the story of a guy who
decides to leave his girlfriend and vanish. He hides so he can spy on her and watch her from
a distance in a sort of twisted social experiment. He feels that this is the only way to fully
understand her. And we thought that this kind of story could be both a starting plot for a short
film and an endless backstory for a series. I am in charge of the communication and public
relation issues of the project. I was so excited to join the team, not only because I wanted to
be part of the filmmaking process, but also because of the story. Since the Wakefield variation deals
with communication or lack thereof, I thought that my task would have been even more important.
That is how to make people understand why this idea should be produced. The Wakefield variation
is basically about a man who can't face relationships and alienates himself from the real world.
That is something which is not easy to write and is the reason I started looking for help.
I'm happy to say that we have on board two award-winning scriptwriters like Melanie Hunter
and John and Robbins, and we'll make the best of their skills. I think that shooting in Italy
a film by international writers and with an international cast is truly amazing. I've already
worked with Efetto Spanso in other projects and I look forward to study this one.
We obviously can't do this alone and we need help. We are involved in film students and young
professionals. Some we work for free, some we'll accept the discounted wage, but we can't do this
without money, especially when it comes to travel and accommodation expenses and to keep on rent us.
We're still in the casting process and no matter who will be chosen, actors as long as the crew
will have to travel, eat on set and have a place to stay. I'm in charge of the shooting schedule
and one of my duties will be to arrange everything for everyone to be happy on set
and to make a great film. With your help my job will be a lot easier.
If you want to be part of this project even a small donation will be highly effective.
In order to learn more you can take a look at our blog which is a work in progress diary of the
making of the film or you can check us out on Facebook or Twitter. So take your time,
check out a lot of our rewards and then take your decision. Consider also that if you can't
make a donation you can still have power by spreading the word. We are grateful for your
attention and we really hope that we can see a lot of you listed in the ending credits of The Wakefield Variation.
