Celebrating 30 years of phenomenal trend forecasting, here's Gerald Salenti with today's trends in the news.
So what brings you out here?
Just to struggle, man. We've been struggling. I've been here since day one.
You've been here since day one? Far out.
Yeah, good for you. See you camping overnight?
Yeah.
Wow. So listen to how the cops did.
Well, I'm surprised you never heard about me, man. I'm famous.
Yeah?
Yeah. I got arrested three times since I've been here.
Three times? What did you do? What law did you break?
The first time, I didn't break any law.
I know. I was just joking.
The first time I got police brutality, you know, I got beat by four cops and they charged me with a assault on police officer and harassment.
And so I got to go, I have three different court dates for these arrests.
Oh, shit.
Second time I got arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Third time I got arrested last Saturday on the march to Times Square for crossing the street.
Crossing the street?
Crossing the street.
You know, today, I think it was Bank of America's city group, one of them, it's got fined $285 million for doing dirty deals.
Yeah.
Right?
It's great.
Nobody got arrested.
Yeah, that's, nobody got arrested.
Still.
They still don't arrest them.
That's what we're waiting on.
I know.
When somebody gets pulled out of the handcuffs of their office, that's when some things that we know is changing.
And that's when we know we made an impact.
That's it.
And that's when some people are going to go home.
Not me, because I know there's other issues too, but that's going to take care of a lot of people's demands.
Here I ran into me over here.
You recognized me on television?
Yeah, I recognize them for an RT, every interview that you do.
Do you see the RT people over here today?
I have.
Yeah.
I see them when they come out.
So if you were to, if you were to, you've been here since day one, what are the mix of people?
Who are they?
Where do they come from?
Well, it's, it's very interesting.
Like the first week and a half we barely had any coverage and they said, uh, little coverage
we didn't have.
Everybody said they were hippies and, you know, I'm sure I don't look like a hippie.
Yeah, you know hippies.
But it was just a bunch of hippies and kids that don't have jobs or whatnot.
And, you know, it was a lot of just regular people here.
And the coverage was fabricating everything, you know?
And so when the knowledge of this movement, you know, started to grow, you've seen a lot
more diverse people come, a lot more people of color, people from Spain, people from Egypt.
It's just important here.
I mean, I've been here since day one and I have people, not me personally, but the movement
has people from all over the world coming here.
So all over the world?
All over the world.
People coming here saying I've seen this on live stream, I've seen this on the news or
whatever.
And I came to support.
Wow.
Far out man.
And it's incredible.
To know that this movement here, you're part of a movement that inspired the world.
Like, it's so humbling.
And for me personally, as an artist, a conscious artist, I write, I do everything.
I live for this moment and I like to die happy.
Right.
You know?
Yeah, that's what it's about.
Yeah, yeah.
You know, to be better, to do better, to do right.
And I feel as though I've accomplished that.
You know, I've been part of the movement that has accomplished that.
And I don't know how to feel like sometimes.
I don't know how to beat it in.
Well, you're making a difference.
Yeah.
It has gone worldwide.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Over 1,700 cities.
Yeah.
Around the world.
When I, in my experience, when I got here that morning on the 17th, five of us.
Five of us?
Five of us.
Yeah, the original five.
Yeah, man.
Listen, I'm going to give you my card.
You get in touch with me, right?
Definitely.
I'm going to stay in touch with you.
You know, it would be great.
There's a, I don't know how long you're going to be here.
I got a two o'clock meeting.
No, I mean like for the, in the area for the time, like a week or so.
Oh, yeah.
I could come down anytime.
There's a meeting for all the occupiers in the boroughs.
And they want a speaker.
And it would be great if you could speak.
I'd love to.
Awesome.
You got my number.
Thank you so much.
All right.
I can't believe it.
All right.
And we might, you know Q-Tip and we might speak there to, you know, we have, well it's a lot
of different artists.
All right.
Yeah, I'd love to.
Yeah, I'll do whatever I can, man.
I'm all for it.
Thank you so much.
Would you fight and die for your country?
Would I fight and die for my country?
Absolutely not.
And why not?
Why not?
Who's my country?
The United States of America.
Who's running the country?
Obama.
Yeah?
And who else?
I don't know.
Yeah.
No, I got to fight and die.
What are you?
That's propaganda.
All right.
How long are you going to wait for change?
Well, make change now.
You can't wait for change.
You make change.
Right.
Because what you get is small change.
If you wait for change, you get no change.
And that's the kind of change you got.
You got hope, but you still got hope for change.
Yeah.
All right.
Thank you.
You really helped my country.
All right.
It's great to see you here.
Hi.
What's your name?
Drew.
Hey, Drew.
Where are you from?
Drew, do you mind if we film you?
I don't mind.
I'm from Long Island originally.
Oh, great.
Great.
Where do you live?
Albany.
That's why it's up there.
Yeah.
Yeah, we're down here, you know, checking it out.
We've had people down here every day, actually.
Yeah, it's great, you know, whatever anybody else will come through.
Oh, listen.
I'm all for it.
You know that, yeah.
Yeah.
Michael, it's Drew.
Let me, Drew, this is what we're, you down here?
You camping out?
Yeah, I've been here for a few days now.
Yeah?
This to us is the answer.
Let the people vote.
Ah, direct democracy.
Yeah.
You know what I think the answer would be?
Fractional reserve lending being dropped.
Well, that's quite it.
So we do it.
But anyway, if you hip to it, you know, that's what we're into.
Good meeting you.
You too.
Thanks again for showing up.
Hey, it's my pleasure.
