So the sats team headed to tea side for the first round of the British Championship. How can I sew it up?
Wet Sunday morning dawn the different day cold and dry was the bad day.
The smoke machine was bug and time.
So off the line in the second gear in the third gear quick stop a home break initiate into the first corner
A little more on the inside of the first corner. So I had a slightly wider line than usual.
Run it right wide out to the concrete to the where the first clipping point is back in the second gear.
Quick swap a direction and now a quick stop on the home break.
Then run it right out wide to the concrete in the third gear.
Just missing the clipping point and run the last right hander running again very wide right on to the concrete edge.
That's over the finish line.
I qualified in 10th place a bit disappointing really.
Our teammate win he qualified in 9th place.
Best of all was Steve Merr he qualified in 8th place.
I was drawn against Wayne in the first round of the top 16.
Before that we were out to greet the crowd and spectators on the track meeting great session which was a rare opportunity for the public to get so close up to the cars and have a proper look about and meet all the drivers.
So here we are at the top 16. Let's have a look at my runs against Wayne Camber.
After the first run I finished with a slight advantage over Wayne.
However things were to change on the second run.
After I accident the final hairpin I had a transmission failure and couldn't select any gears which meant my day was over.
Wayne Camber proceeded through to the top 8 however that's where his day was to end.
Steve Merr managed to go all the way to the final against she and himself. He put in some amazing runs and it was so close he had to run one more time.
In the end he secured a very incredible second place overall.
The new SAS team on its first outing also won the team trophy with all three drivers finishing inside the top 16 in the Super Pro category.
Next up round 2 is Norfolk Arena. A small stock car circuit but actually very technical, very difficult and quite suited to Super last year when we ran it.
The cars now quite different, obviously the one we ran it last year. It also has now got a new Exedy triple plate carbon clutch fitted after the failure of the clutch at the T side.
Hopefully all will be good and we will enjoy running it at Norfolk Arena.
Thanks for watching!
