Now without further ado, on with the video.
Hello, welcome to another episode.
Today I'm going to take you to an extra special place.
I'm in Palmyra, Pennsylvania, which is pretty close to Hershey, Pennsylvania.
And the place I'm going to take you is off of Route 422 on Forge Road to be specific
on North Forge Road at the corner of North Forge and Broad Street, the Palmyra Natural
Food Emporium.
Now I know that because there's a sign right there.
So let's go in and see what they have to offer.
Now outside there's this little tunnel you can go through, which is kind of neat, to
get to the doors that go inside.
To the left, he has a small garden, which has all kinds of peppers and different kind
of things in there.
Only in a small food store can you see something like this.
I think this is great.
I think places like this are really neat, the small town grocers.
But unfortunately they are disappearing left and right.
Now this place has already expanded into a meat market and they're getting ready to
expand even more, which I'll show you in a moment.
Now they've been kind enough to let me go inside and videotape a few things for you.
So let's go inside and see what we can find.
They have a lot of bulk foods like teas and coffees, different types of mushrooms, and
bulk oats, lentils, beans.
Now where else can you find things like this in a small local store?
This is where you ground the coffee.
You can choose the different grounds you can do, perk, drip, automatic, fine, or expresso.
Pretty cool.
Put the coffee in there, ground it up, put your bag down here, and you're good to go.
Got locally baked breads, your standard grocery area.
They have a walk-in freezer that has, again, locally, and organic grown foods, even for
met their own pickles, and other items, right now they have snow peas.
Sometimes they have other fermented foods, like sauerkraut, and fermented tomatoes, those
kind of things, which are really good.
Up the ramp to the back of the building is a new part that they just added, which is
the meat market and cheeses.
Just like the old style dalleas, of course you have the beef jerky, you have the different
meats, the different cheeses, and by the way, everything he has here is either all natural,
organic, or locally grown and processed.
Again, where else are you going to find this kind of stuff other than your local market?
What I was talking about earlier, that they're expanding even more, is they're going to have
a wine area in here, where they're going to have local and organic wines.
Of course, wine tasting, cheeses, this is going to be great, and of course, a little
splash of humor here and there.
In addition, they have a munch area with soups, sandwiches, different things on special everyday,
and of course specialty items and drinks that you normally can't find in a regular store.
They have a small seating area that you can sit down and relax, talk a bit with the owner,
just talk about these events.
Well now, it's time to go.
Sounded better in my head.
I hope you enjoyed this episode, going to the Palmyra Real Food Emporium.
