When I first came to Arizona, I didn't think I would really enjoy painting the desert.
I'd go out in the middle of the day and it was flat light, everything was washed away
and it was hot.
Then I started discovering I could get up early, I could go out late in the evening, and the
sunset lights and the Sonoran Desert I found out is so lush, it's beautiful, the vegetation
is different than anywhere in the world and it's just the Akatea, the saguaro, the cholla,
a lot of beautiful, beautiful plants, vegetation to describe.
It's really exciting when a piece comes together, it flows smoothly, comes together easily,
and when you're finished, the excitement is there, the energy has flowed into the work
and the client comes in and it fits and it all just kind of works together, that's very
amazing.
