Well, friends, we are gathered here together in the sight of God to witness and to bless
the joining together of Peter, Jeffress, and Keisha Cross in Christian marriage.
So, Keisha, will you have Peter to be your husband, to live together in holy marriage?
Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him in sickness and in health, and forsaking
all others?
Be faithful to him as long as you both shall live, if so say I will.
I will.
And Peter, will you have Keisha to be your wife, to live together in holy marriage?
Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her in sickness and in health, and forsaking
all others?
Be faithful to her as long as you both shall live, if so say I will.
I will.
My longtime mistress Keisha, today I finally have the privilege of marrying you.
This day is certainly a dream come true, as corny as it may be when I jokingly claim
I knew you were the one, when I called you traitor, this claim is probably more true.
Your beauty may have been what initially attracted me to you, but your loving, caring, and fun
spirit is what made me fall in love with you.
Peter, I am so happy you were here.
From the moment I first met you, I had no idea you would be the one for me.
I did know that you were funny, wait, hilarious, but I love spending time with you.
In you I found my best friend for life, a strong, brilliant man who challenges me, supports
my dreams, and shows me a happiness I never thought possible.
I respect your integrity, inclusion of others, trustworthiness, openness, good sense of humor,
and kindness.
I am crazy about you.
Any shortcoming you may have is nearly impossible to see, as it is overshadowed by the hundreds
of amazing traits that make you the woman I love.
Your generosity is so far reaching, there is no one I know who compares.
I look forward to the times we get to open our home to our friends and family, and see
your spirit of hospitality sharing.
I thank God daily for every path he guided me on, eventually leading to you.
My time at ORU is life changing, however I can absolutely say there are no memories
more fun than the first moments we've made together.
I can't wait to experience the rest of our lives together, and add photos of our future
adventures to the hitched section of our photo album.
I'm so in love with you, I can't wait to hold back tears as I see you walk down the aisle
today.
May God bless you.
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, holding
yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other forever.
These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together you build your future.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years,
and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other.
These are the hands that will countless times wipe tears of sorrow and tears of joy from
your eyes, and hold you in the difficult times.
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.
These are the hands that will give you support and encouragement to chase down your dreams.
These are the hands that will be in your hands or on your shoulders as you pray for each
other through the years.
And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching
for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.
It is my privilege to present to you Mr. and Mrs. Peter DeGeneres.
I'm happy to become our own family.
You make me feel understood, you value my opinion even if we don't agree.
And when we disagree, we can usually settle to agree to disagree or buy the other person
a drink.
I love that.
You brighten every day, and I hope I do the same for you.
I promise to strive to be the best wife I can be.
I look forward to building a beautiful life with you.
One that is centered on Christ, a life of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness,
and patience.
Colossians 312.
We may have been together for seven years, but I wouldn't trade it for anything else.
These past seven years have been special.
The time has helped us mature as individuals, get established in our careers, and most importantly,
nurture and grow a very healthy relationship.
Although I may joke about waiting so long for you to propose, I truly believe this is
God's perfect time, right here and right now.
You are loved, extremely overwhelmingly genuinely loved, and like I said and will continue to
say, I am so happy you are here.
Here in Kansas City, here to marry me today, here in my heart, and here to stay.
I love you too, Keisha.
