It's very unique here is that you can kind of go out your back door and start four-wheeling
versus some other areas where you're going to drive for a day or two before you're going
to get to do that.
Not going to hike 10 miles in one day, but on the Jeep I can get 50, 60, 80, 100 miles
out to where a lot of people can't get to, so it gives me an opportunity to see something
that very few people see.
It's a unique opportunity.
Hi my name is Jennifer.
I am a member of the New Mexico four-wheelers.
We welcome all types of four-wheel drive vehicles and we're kind of based out of Albuquerque
but we have members throughout the state.
I have a lot of parts on the inside, lots of tow straps and all those kind of hooks
and things that we need to hold on the trail when you get stuck, so I definitely have a
tendency to do that.
Thanks everybody.
All right.
Typically, most of the things we do we go out for an entire day.
I mean we've been out for 15, 16 hours in a day.
Here there's the BLM lands, there's the forest lands.
They belong to all of us.
So there's a lot of countryside in New Mexico to get out and explore.
Our club tends to do a lot of different things and pretty much everyone's willing to kind
of share their knowledge.
We're out on the trail where there's a group.
We're not leaving anybody behind, we're not leaving their vehicle behind.
Driving a four-wheel drive is significantly different than driving an automobile and if
you haven't done it, it does help to have someone there that has done this and has some
experience.
We kind of want to roll over something versus just kind of bouncing off of it and again it's
you know go slow over it, go straight onto it.
You don't want to drop off a stair or something with your front tire turn because you might
just drop it and snap it so you kind of got to turn into things sometimes.
It can be counter-intuitive because the road might go a little bit to the right so you
want to turn right but you actually need to turn left so that you drop down or climb
over that rock the correct way.
That driver just touched, there you go, come ahead, right there, you're in the right line.
This is what I tell people all the time, people find out I'm quote one of those four-wheelers.
It's a shame that it kind of has a bad image.
I you know immediately share that you know you're missing an opportunity to go out and
see parts of this country and nature that you may never see and very few people get
to see.
That's my main message, it's being respectful to others and respectful to nature.
That's what we want, people to see that you know it can be fun and it's an opportunity.
Open them to the sport that they really had no idea about so get in that driver's seat
and try it.
