One month I had to make a credit card payment to keep my house as a veteran, it's been kind of hard.
My home is my number one responsibility and I take care of it.
I'm just a very responsible individual and that's me.
The process itself wiped out our future hopes of being able to accumulate a little bit of wealth
and take care of things that need to be taken care of.
You just don't know if you're going to be there one day and the next day you're going to pack everything and get out.
I got so frustrated that I just don't want to do it anymore.
It's not worth what it's doing to me emotionally, mentally, our children.
We're watching what we're going through and it was horrible. It was absolutely horrible.
These people would show up, carloads of them.
I'm waiting out there with my kids trying to get them on the bus. They're walking between me and my kids.
I said, this place is not for sale. Oh yeah, it's listed on the foreclosure list.
I said, no, I'm working with the bank. Well, it's still on the foreclosure list.
And I said, I'm trying to get my kids to school.
I got two letters from two different departments dated on the same day.
One was saying, oh thank you, we just received your modification packet.
We'll review it and get back with you within the next 20 or 21 business days.
And then the next one was from another department saying, sorry, your modification has been denied
so we're going to proceed with the foreclosure.
And it's like, okay, well, what's going on here?
Any kind of mental or emotional stability, that's what life really was.
I just wanted a home for stability. And this has turned into a complete nightmare.
It's literally caused a divorce. It's been really hard.
You don't have a security, because still, you never know. Every time I get a letter, my heart jumps to my throat.
Now what? Now what?
I've lost respect for the banks. I don't think that they're there to help people on any level.
I get depressed a lot. I'm just wondering how I'm going to make everything come together.
It's such a struggle.
If the legislation that is on the table right now were in place, the dual track system would be gone.
And that in and of itself would be a major help to most people in the process.
What would you do if you were one of these consumers?
You have the power to make a change. You have the power to change people's lives.
Putting them on the street, keeping them in their home. That's your decision.
I'd ask them to make the right decision.
