Over the past few months, the Minnesota Lynx have organized several networking events as
part of the President's Circle, which features the top women's athletic advocates in the
Twin Cities.
These functions were hosted at the home of Lynx star Lindsey Whalen, as well as Wolves
and Lynx President Chris Wright, and included talks from Lindsey Whalen, Rebecca Brunson,
Head Coach Cheryl Reeve, Lynx VP of Basketball Operations, Carly Knox, and President Circle
members.
This is about supporting a wonderful team and a wonderful cause of women leadership,
women empowerment, but we're inviting you all to be a part, so please join us, and that's
what tonight's about.
This is going to be the second season that we've had the President's Circle, and it's
a way for our most passionate die-hard supporters to give back to the community, to have these
incredible insider experiences with the team, and really take their support of the Minnesota
Lynx to the next level.
Our leader at the WNBA level, Lisa Borders, the president of our league, has challenged
our team to raise the bar, to take it to a completely different level, and lead the
WNBA to places where as such it really hasn't been to this point.
The President's Circle to me is a chance to get very involved with the Lynx, we've had
opportunities to meet players, we've been able to have opportunities to go to practices,
but really it's helping to give back, it's been great to see that, and to see how real
the players are, and how they all give back, and it's just real exciting.
We are honored to open up our team to you all, and the biggest reason is I'm always
touched by the stories that I hear from our players, I'm also touched by the stories that
I hear from fans, and many here tonight that I've had a chance to talk to, to say there
are some fans that never had a chance to play, but absolutely wanted to play, right, but
the opportunities weren't there for women back then.
The idea of being able to also give back and a part of this is giving back to the community,
that's really, really important.
Being able to do something we love while also being able to do good, it's really, how do
you turn that down, right?
You know, I truly believe in this league wholeheartedly, and really do believe it's making the world
a better place, and what we're about is so much more than basketball, and if you guys
don't see that when you come to our games, whether it's what's going on in the society,
and we have incredibly intelligent and powered women that are the best role models in pro
sports, sorry, close your ears, Chad, but they really are unbelievable women that are
incredible role models, that you want your kids to come and watch these games, and learn
basketball from them, and learn how to be good people that are giving back to the community
and making the world a better place.
There is no title line that protects the WNBA that's going to guarantee the existence of
a particular team or a particular franchise as a whole, but this is a way to kind of put
your money where your mouth is and support the team so that we have a team, so that we
have these incredible role models who are constantly giving back to the community and
really kind of trend setters across society to make the world a better place.
