We are very excited to open Carol Thurman's second solo exhibition at our gallery, Jim
Kettner Fine Art, called The Golden Mean.
This body of work is really about balance, harmony, and unity, which are all major themes
throughout her work.
How perfect she wants everything to be.
Smallest, little, French manicured finger tips, and the eyebrows and the eyelashes
made from, I think, me.
The cast, the bathing suit, this one is just unbelievable.
In fact, I really wanted to show this piece from the back because it is so sensuous, that
curve is so beautiful, and this suit.
They're just so charming and just want one.
They're just something you want to, you just covet.
She's made something that appeals to, I think, everybody.
When people see the monumental sculpture, they are in awe.
And people are just, they're just astonished by how real they look.
How is it?
Absolutely fabulous.
Completely blown away by it.
There's a real elegance, I think, about this particular work.
A real gracefulness that always striving for perfection.
She creates these peaceful, serene, contemplative.
She's just amazing, and I can't wait to see what's coming next.
For the Greeks, beauty meant proportion, symmetry, and harmony.
And the golden mean was a mathematical formulation that was developed that represented pure beauty.
A perfect body, and seeing it so large in scale, that really makes you stop and think about
your own body, your own mortality.
It makes you think about life on the planet.
What amazed me about Carol, her ability to look at an idea and turn it to reality.
So she can talk, and a lot of people talk, but she really makes it.
It's really happening, and you see that she has no fear.
I've been following her work for a great many years.
I've seen it all over the world.
Venice, Austria, Paris, New York.
One of the things I want to say about Carol's work, which I do love,
but first of all, she has a theme. It's always about the health and the invigorating of the human spirit of the human being.
We at Jim Kempner Fine Art are so excited and so proud to be showing Carol Furman's 2013 show,
and the first to show the monumental golden mean in New York City.
So please make sure you come by, see the show before it ends,
and then come on in and I'll take you on a personal tour inside when you come.
