Today, just now, I was able to climb a steel cone, the hardest wood here in Cineplex
Cave. It's M13 Plus, so I feel really, really happy today.
The last piece, I couldn't really do some good tries because it was really cold.
Now I feel just happy to have it done.
Hampton Falls is situated in the Rocky Mountains, a six-hour drive from Vancouver and in a
beautiful valley with forests and meadows.
Hampton Falls is an enormous cave of 150 meters height with a waterfall in front that continually
displays water drops on the rock of the cave and in the winter the water gets frozen and
creates fascinating structures and big icicles.
The climbing on this overhanging ice is something special and for me it was for sure the hardest
ice I had ever tried. In the beginning it felt to me as the icicles must break when putting
ice on them, but after a first recognition I got more confident to this crazy climbing.
The root flesh of the titans was bolted and climbed the week of our visit by Tim Emmet
and Clement Bremen, two of the best climbers in this discipline.
They encouraged me to try their new root and after two days I could climb this line.
They had graded water ice 10+.
This trip was great and I would like to thank so much Tim and Clement for their motivation and help
and Marco and Klaus for their company. We had so much fun.
Since I saw years ago pictures of both Helmken Falls and Cineplex cave, these places were
definitely on my adventure list.
