What we need to remember is that this development of interaction between francophone universities has been greatly improved thanks to the introduction of new digital technologies.
It allows us to exchange cases with medical images and film presentations.
And therefore, to augment for each student, whether in Montreal or Lyon, their case, their number of cases, thanks to what is seen from both sides.
So digital technology is really important. It does not replace learning by dexterity, but it definitely allows exchanges and discussions between teachers and students of the same level of training.
In the world of francophone, in any case, for clinical professions like ours, we can prepare ourselves thanks to the digital tool in a synchronized way and then at the clinical level, the practical training.
Do not hesitate to introduce the English language to allow other countries of the world to come to us and then to start the French language.
And it's really the reality that we have lived in our clinic is that students, whether from the United States, Iran or elsewhere, have the desire to learn French later.
More than ever, I think that francophony has a huge role to play in global health.
We have a very large number of people from around the world speaking French. We have great scientists. We have great research projects.
We have to be able to exchange through digital and through practical training.
And so yes, francophony has something to play through these networks, but these networks must not be in silos, that is to say, just for francophony,
they must open up to the rest of the world and not be afraid to integrate English areas.
The French language is first of all spoken in Europe, in Africa, on the American continent and much less in Asia.
And when we look at the demographic weight and demographic evolution of Asian countries in particular, but also African,
we understand that there is a real issue of teaching the French language and training French teachers.
We understand that French is still a language spoken on the five continents and in international organizations.
I believe that the future for francophony is also the concomitant development of French teaching
and cooperation with, in particular, the public actors, which are the city, the agglomeration, the region.
We must work in the same direction. And I will end by saying that what seems very important to me is to facilitate
and accompany the economic development of French countries.
I would say that francophony will have an impact only if francophonic countries themselves represent a certain economic weight at the international level.
That is what we must wish for and that is what I really wish for, the economic development of all these countries.
