Hi folks, this is Ali and I don't normally do product reviews or camera reviews, but
I was sent a little product by this company called SignEasyTouch which makes a tiny little
work around a button enhancement for the record button on the Sony A7S and the A6000.
Now they had seen some of the videos that I had done online and they knew I was using
the A7S and they wanted to review this product and I must say that I was a little skeptical
at the beginning but I went on and tried to install it.
It really takes no time at all.
Now I don't have the A6000 so I only got the A7S installed.
It really took no time.
All you have to do is to remove this little triangular piece of the eyelid that holds
the camera strap.
You've got to remove that and then you use the little inlet that holds the camera strap
as a place where you put in a screw that will then install and fix this button enhancement.
The button enhancement has a little nipple that goes against the record button and now
what ends up happening is that when you press the button, it requires very little effort.
It's actually even easier to activate the record button with this little button enhancement
than it is to activate it if you had reassigned it to the shutter button, which is something
that Sony doesn't do and that's funny because I was at the NAB meeting and I went up to
the camera to the Sony booth and I said, why the heck do you guys not allow the reassignment
of the record button and what is this position of the record button you put on this camera
because every time I start recording, just for the first, the second or two, I have shaky
footage and then right before I stop it, I have shaky footage.
Anyway, this is just a very small little product that helps enhance this issue of shake for
activating and deactivating the record button on the Sony A7S and also on the A6000, which
I don't have so I haven't tried that one yet, but on the A7S, it works beautifully.
Now I don't know what kind of longevity it will have because I just installed it yesterday
and I've been playing around with it and it works beautifully, but I'm putting it in
and out of the camera bag whether it's going to cause a problem or not.
I will try to keep you updated if anything changes, but you can give them a shot and
take a look at it.
They are on SineEasyTouch.com, you can go ahead and take a look at it.
This product sells for about 25 bucks and so you may think it's a little bit expensive,
but to be honest, if the issue of this jitter at hitting the record button is a problem
for you, it's well worth the money, which it is basically for me.
I think it's worth it and also I must say that this is a problem I've been complaining
about to my friends for a long time and I got to give the guy credit because he kind
of developed his product and is selling it, so it's certainly he deserves it.
That's basically it, if you want me to do any other camera product reviews and so on,
I'd be more than happy to do so.
My shooting style is very run and gun, I'd like to have the lowest footprint possible,
efficiency and the least amount of gear to shoot so that I can concentrate more on the
story or the idea and the scenery.
Anyway, so I hope you found this little thing helpful.
