Haunted Empire Presents. The List.
The Sycamore Inn Steakhouse. In Rancho Cucamonga, is a scare factor 5, which means, Protect
Your Soul.
The Sycamore Inn, dates back to 1848, when it was a small inn, and tavern, on the old
Santa Fe Trail. In 1862, pioneer landowner John Rains was murdered, and his wife Maria
Rains, with the ranch manager, Roman Curio, were considered suspects, but no evidence
was found, and that case was never solved.
Two years later, Curio was shot dead, in front of the inn.
That case, was never solved. Sounds like it would be safer, to stay far away from Maria
Rains.
But William Drew Bottom, protected her at all costs.
Drew Bottoms Inn suffered fire, flood, rebuilding, and fire again. The modern history of the
Sycamore Inn begins in 1920, when local citrus rancher and vintner, John Clusman, began construction
on the current building. Clusman's goal, was to create a nice social place to gather,
similar to the country ins of his native Germany. The inn included, a sweeping staircase, 8 rooms
on the second floor, a friendly bar, and a dining room, that became a favorite gather
place for locals.
We were told that there is something, lurking around, the Sycamore Inn. That they hear strange
noises and sometimes feel dizzy, nauseous, like you do when you have a flu. When we
arrived, we heard and felt the same. Whatever was causing us to feel that way, was not good.
Including the feeling that, something or someone, was watching us. You could feel an air of
suspicion in the room. And the closer we got, to revealing its true whereabouts, everything
would stop. Ghost or demon? I have no idea. It was no longer, in the room with us.
At the Sycamore Inn, you can sit in the same boat, where Marilyn and Rosette, a few days
before she died. Or you can see where the Black Dolia, Elizabeth Short, spent an evening
of whining and dining. A week, before her death in 1947. It seems that everyone, wants their
last meal, to be at the inn. But remember this, at the Sycamore Inn, you can have a wonderful
evening, feasting on steak, seafood and fine dining. But the only ones that can get in,
without a reservation, are the Ghosts in Rangcho, Cucamonga, California.
