I'd like to welcome you today to Disciples Net Service.
Today, part of our worship will include a sermon by Bob Shaw.
We also ask that as you gather with us, you remember all the others who gather at this table.
So now come and enter with us into a spirit of worship.
Let the Lord be present with us in our song, in our prayer, in our hearing of God's word, in our study, and most of all, together.
Welcome.
St. Hallelujah, St. Hallelujah, St. Hallelujah to the Lord.
St. Hallelujah, St. Hallelujah, St. Hallelujah, St. Hallelujah to the Lord.
Let us praise Jesus now.
We are standing in His presence on holy ground.
We are standing in His presence on holy ground.
Will you join me now in prayer?
God of all people, God of all creation, you have sent forth your spirit to create the universe and to fill it with wonders and you breathe your spirit into us and we rose from the dust and the face of the earth came alive.
Through Jesus, your son, you spoke your words and showed us your works, revealing the truth of who you are.
Then you poured out your holy spirit on us, setting our hearts ablaze with passions for peace and firing our tongues with everlasting songs of joy, making us forever your children.
It is in that sureness of our place with you that we come before you now.
We pray for peace in the whole world, especially those places where peace comes hard.
Help us to work to strive to bring your peace to our land and to our world.
As much as it is up to us, let us strive to live in peace with all people.
We pray for the welfare of your church and for the unity of all believers.
May we truly see our brothers and sisters as all members of your widespread family.
We pray for the world and its leaders and the leaders of our individual nations.
May they seek wisdom and may they find it.
We pray for our families and ourselves.
We pray for those in need, the suffering and the oppressed.
May we give our time and our resources to meet their needs.
We pray for the dying and for those who have lost loved ones to death.
May your spirit and your peace fill their hearts.
We offer all of these prayers our thanks and our praise to you through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who guides us, who teaches us, even as he taught us to pray.
Our Father,
the Lord is in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts that we forgive our debts.
May Your name and creation come from Him, Long live His glory and His glory.
O Lord, make us instruments of your peace, where ancient roads led us so far, where tells prevails that us shall pay,
the holy faith of our God alone.

O Lord, make us instruments of your peace, where ancient roads led us so far, where tells prevails that us shall pay,
O Lord, with your eyes you have searched me, and while smiling have spoken my name.
Now my boats left on the shoreline behind me, I aside, I will seek other seas.
You know so well my possessions, my boat carries no gold and no weapons, you will find there my nets and labor.
O Lord, make us instruments of your peace, where ancient roads led us so far, where tells prevails that us shall pay,
the holy faith of our God alone.
You need my hands full of caring, throw my labors to give others rest, and constant love that keeps on loving.
O Lord, with your eyes you have searched me, and while smiling have spoken my name.
Now my boats left on the shoreline behind me, by your side I will seek other seas.
You have fished other oceans, ever longed for by souls who are waiting, my loving friend as thus you call me.
O Lord, with your eyes you have searched me, and while smiling have spoken my name.
Now my boats left on the shoreline behind me, by your side I will seek other seas.
When we come to the table, we like to think of something that we call at Disciples Net, the table promise.
This is a special meaning not just with the table being the center of our worship service, but it really is the center of our Disciples Net ministry.
It has something to do with us as people realizing that we have a hunger, a need that we can't have met by anything that we can do in our lives,
whether it's by reading or studying or talking or whatever, it has to be met by coming to the one that can fulfill our need.
We come to the table where we take of this bread in this cup in remembrance of Jesus who gave his body and his blood on our behalf.
But we also come to the table together, you see we could take this alone, but we come to this table together, all of you out there listening,
because it's a time when we come as Christ wanted us to come as a people, as believers, we're in passing the bread to each other,
and seeing each other at that table where we sit in humility, and seeing each other as a child of God,
and see them reflected through the eyes of our host Jesus Christ, we are fed,
and we go away from the table each time more able to understand God's promise for the world that God gave to us.
And so we ask you to come today, wherever you are, whatever situation that you may be in.
We also ask you, and this is a stretch for us, it's all difficult, but try to think of some of the other people that are here.
Try to think of some of the other circumstances at the same table to see them reflected in the eyes of our host Jesus Christ.
Let us pray.
Gracious God, we thank you so much for this gift that you give us here, for feeding us in this way,
that Jesus Christ gave us this way of remembering, of remembering your love for us and how we are to share that, to pass it along with one another.
We ask that you bless each person in listening now, bless their table that extends from this one,
bless the bread, the cup that they have before them, even if it's just held in their mind,
bless this to our bodies as we partake, for it's in the name of Jesus Christ we pray.
Oh man, what was on that last night that Jesus sat with his disciples sharing the Passover meal,
and he took a loaf of bread and after he had blessed it he broke it and said,
this is my body broken for you, do this in remembrance of me.
In the same way after they had finished eating he took the cup and said,
this cup is the new covenant of my blood poured out for you, do this in remembrance of me.
For as often as you eat of this bread and drink of this cup, you tell the Lord's story until he comes again.
Won't you come?
Buddy Christ, I've been blessing for you.
My heart is taken towards you.
My heart tells me to stay to you, only I know.
My prayer for you this day is a prayer of blessing,
or perhaps a prayer calling down the curse of God on your head.
It depends on your own point of view, I suppose.
My wish for you, my prayer for you, is the prophet's choice.
May you, like the prophet Jeremiah, hear and understand the call of God for your life.
May the misery of holding that in and refusing to speak be yours,
until you are weary with holding it in, until you cannot any more,
until you give way to God's will and let it burst out.
Let us praise Jesus now.
We are standing in His presence on holy ground.
