You are a bunch of fucking assholes.
You know why?
You don't have the guts to be what you want to be.
You need people like me.
You need people like me so you can point your fucking fingers.
I say that's the bad guy.
So?
What'll I make you?
I just did an interview that came from the heart and how I really felt about the ASP and didn't like it.
This wasn't no publicity stunt, you know.
What I said was what I feel for FTW.
It's not really a sponsorship because I'm a partial owner in this brand so they're not telling me what to do.
I'm being myself, you know.
I'm saying what I would have fucking said anyway.
And I'm not, it's not to try and hype anything up.
It's just telling them that I think they're fucking ruining surfing.
That's it.
That was just a voice in my opinion, you know, freedom of speech.
Telling them how I felt and they kicked me out because it wasn't what they wanted to hear.
And, you know, I was expecting a fine, a good fine.
That's what I said before the interview.
I know he's speaking of fine me right now, but to be kicked out was funny but to tell you the truth,
I don't give a fuck about this tour and I don't even care to be on this tour anymore.
That's why I missed the last two events.
I beat Kelly in Brazil the last time I did one of these contests, you know.
So they put me up against him with him here.
I beat him again.
Quicksilver has the number one guy out of the event.
My next interview, I probably will talk more shit about the ASP.
They don't want that.
So I think ASP and Quicksilver worked together to get me out of the contests
because they don't want their number one guy losing early.
And they don't want nothing bad publicly said to them.
So I think they worked together and just told me I had to leave.
It was all good though.
I don't like these fucking contests anyway.
My big thing with ASP is just when I really started voicing my opinion was this year
when they were doing a tennis format.
I didn't really voice my opinion.
I cared too much when they cut it down to 32 from 44.
You know, I thought it was a little harsh, but whatever.
I didn't say much.
I thought I wasn't right.
Voicing my opinion on this new format with tennis is where I really think they went wrong.
Because surfing ain't fucking tennis.
Five guys come on half way through the year.
They can't come on and have a shot of winning a world title.
What's the point of having them on that year?
I've seen the best surfers.
For instance, Joe Parkinson won three out of the first five events.
The second half of the year, he couldn't even make it out of the 17th round.
And now people will say, oh, he was hurt.
I don't care if you're hurt.
If you're hurt, you don't show up.
He was there to surf.
He had no excuses.
He took it like a man and he couldn't make a heap.
That's just the way it is.
It's hard on everybody.
People need time in surfing.
You're dealing with the ocean, mother nature, you know.
People on that QS struggle for years.
They're on it for years.
And then to have five events on the world tours, man, it's cut throat.
They're cutting years that these people have worked for for five events.
Maybe, you know, it's just, I don't think it's right.
They need to change this half way cut off before they do anything.
They got a lot of things they need to change as far as locations.
I think the judging's fucked.
I'm not just saying that I might have.
You know, sometimes I get pushed through heat.
Sometimes I lose heat.
You know, I'm not saying, I'm just saying as a whole.
When I watch surfing, a lot of things I think are,
they don't really know where, which direction they're going.
They're trying to make a change because they know they need to.
I just think they're making it in the wrong direction.
After I did an interview with Channel Islands, ASP wrote a,
they had a letter that they commented on my letter,
on my interview with Channel Islands saying,
I don't like the tour.
You know, it's bullshit where it's going.
They wrote a letter saying I should have voted.
Well, the WPS is the voice for the surfers who approach the ASP
and try and fight for what they feel the surfers deserve.
Well, the WPS has never sent me an email saying,
this is what we're deciding.
What's your choice? A, B, or C?
They did that once since I've been involved in this tour.
And they did it for the Pipe Masters contest in South Africa,
voting if it should be 16 surfers.
They sent out a group email and every surfer voted A, B, or C.
And that's the only time they've ever done that.
You know, now they just take, raise hands at the meeting.
What do you guys think?
10 people raise their hand, 15 people raise their hand,
the other 10 don't.
So they're supposed to take a majority vote,
but they need everybody to take a majority vote.
Well, every time I've been at the meeting,
Kelly Slater has never been to these meetings, not once.
You don't care for them.
Why? Because the WPS is bullshit.
They fucking, they don't stick to what they say they're going to do.
And at the end of the day, they make up their own decisions
when they approach their ideas to the board of ASP.
So I would like to see, I would like to see a printout
of all the surfers who voted yes or no on this new format,
on all the ideas that have been changed lately.
And I would like to see it and say, hey, look it,
your vote wouldn't come in.
A John and the rest of the Susan voted yes.
Jackson voted no.
Each guy, I want to see it, but they have no proof in that.
And if they do, cool, show me.
And whatever, I'll shut up.
But yeah.
And then I think it's still fucked up.
I was in Huntington Beach getting ready to serve a heat.
And Brody, this was about a month ago.
Brody came up to me and he said,
I just want to know why you're so unhappy with the ASP.
And so exactly what I said in my interview,
I told Brody, exact same thing.
And exactly what I'm saying here, I told Brody,
I said the ASP is a bunch of bullshit.
They shouldn't try and be like tennis.
It's all these WPS surfers who like tennis,
that are trying to make the change.
I told them all this stuff.
And my wife was right next to me.
When he walked away, she said, I have nothing to argue with.
What you're saying is completely right.
I'm going to take this to the ASP board.
And Brody Carter told me that.
And he's one of the main guys at ASP.
And he doesn't like the WPS.
And I said, I don't like the fucking WPS either.
So I was being completely honest with them on everything.
And he couldn't even agree to disagree with me.
But when I say it in public here at the contest,
then they kick me out for it.
But Brody Carter went and let me surf my heat in Huntington
right then and there.
I told him the same exact fucking thing.
So go figure.
I think people don't realize how appreciative I am
for what I have and what I have gotten through surfing.
You know, I've met my wife.
I've been able to travel and see other cultures.
That's great.
But I'll tell you one thing is that people forget.
What I got is because I've worked for it.
ASP didn't give me a helping hand and say,
here, come on tour.
I'm thankful that there was opportunity for us.
But it's not like they gave it to me.
I still worked for it and I've earned it.
If I'm happy with some, I'm just going to say it.
But I'm more than thankful.
My true friends and family know that.
And I will never, never forget what surfing has done for me.
Me, I don't have that problem.
Me, I always tell the truth.
Even when I lie.
It's a sacred night to the bad guy.
The last time you're going to see a bad guy like this again.
The people who are reading the book by the cover for FTW
and saying, fuck the world.
It's perfect because it's not what you guys think it is.
It's about bringing the people's attention.
It's not about, I just scream and fuck the world.
It's like the world we live in is a fucked up place.
We're on a 10 year anniversary from 9-11.
And what happened that day was fucked up.
Things in the world just ain't right.
And this is what is funny to the surf world.
You judge a book by its cover.
You always judge me by my cover.
You guys don't even fucking know me.
So this is perfect.
Because once again, you're just making your narrow-minded judgments
and you have no idea what the fuck this really means.
