The
I climb is because I like to be outdoors.
I mean, what better way is to stay in shape, get stronger,
have fun with friends and be outside in a great setting.
And who wants to go indoors and just pump iron
for like 20 minutes around a bunch of sweaty guys.
Just the freedom and the adrenaline.
I don't know, I used to play baseball and I was just too much,
too much pressure, too many people.
I just like coming out by myself, doing what I want to do.
Don't really need anybody else.
Yeah, dude.
Generally, it's about why doesn't this feel right?
Why am I on the ground?
What am I doing wrong?
But generally, I try not to think about anything
and just kind of get into that zone you can say
and just try to climb.
Sister has been climbing for about five years
and she's been asking me long time to come out,
to come to the gym and stuff.
And finally, I just decided to go.
And like nine months ago, I've been going like four times a week.
Ever since.
I've been climbing for about five years.
I've been climbing for about five years and she's been asking me
for five years and she's been asking me for five years
and I've been going like four times a week.
Ever since.
Religiously with that.
I basically got in the bowling
because I just started coming outdoors when I was a kid.
When I got in the high school, I came out to the craft boulders
and stuff and just was messing out with shoes
and I saw people with crash pads and it was like,
oh shit, people actually do this?
Like, this is a sport, I want to do this.
So then I just kind of went to the desert rock sports
and was like, I want to pair shoes
and the guy kind of looked at me funny.
He's like, well, what do you do?
And I was like, I'm just going to go climb.
It's like, you know, you want a crash pad and all that.
So I guess I just kind of was naturally like let the bouldering
because I don't like being tied down and stuff.
Definitely pushed me to where I want to do other extreme sports
just because that rush again,
the first time I started climbing,
I got that same adrenaline rush
and that's what I've been after.
I quit skateboarding for a while,
I've been focusing on bouldering.
What I enjoy bouldering and just climbing in general,
I think it applies to is because I'm not a teen sport person.
I'm competitive in some aspects,
but I'm not a teen sports person.
I don't want to have to rely on my outcome,
on the outcome of nine other people that can actually blow it.
So I like climbing because you can actually gauge yourself personally,
but you can still also be slightly competitive
in a good, fun mannered way hopefully
and you don't think it too serious,
but it's still a good way to gauge yourself
against other people to see if you're still progressing.
So you can still be competitive without relying on other people
to see your overall outcome.
It's just you personally, so it's,
you win it or you lose it.
Yep, come on.
Come on.
Super solid.
Oh yeah.
Snatch, come on.
Right there Curtis, come on.
Come on you better, we got you.
Come on, come on, come on.
You alright?
Yeah, I'm fine.
Just pacing off it.
Dude, you're doing it for the camera.
Dude, you're over this.
Dude, I was right.
You got a mythical zone, that's just,
you get, you start your climbing, you pull on,
you grab your first two holds,
you're at the top of the ball, they're going,
shit, I did it finally, and you don't remember how you did it.
Just feels super easy,
then when I fall a whole bunch of stuff, it goes through my mind.
Come on.
Solid, come on.
Yeah dude, stay on that thing.
Come on Andy.
Come on, come on.
Yeah.
You alright?
Yeah, he's bottomed out now.
Fuck!
Fuck!
Yeah, I don't know why.
It's probably the most scared I've ever been climbing.
I'm sure I just want to keep having fun, get stronger,
be able to do some of the most classic climbs.
Not really trying to do it for anybody else,
go out, have fun, climb my best.
Oh!
Go for it now, go for it.
Go for it.
