Hi there, this is Mariel Hemsley, Pact Stereo TV, here at the Aqua Lounge at Beverly Hills
with Howard Hewitt and his daughter, Rainy.
That's right.
Rainy.
Rainy.
This is what this whole thing is about.
That's right.
The future.
It's about their future.
The future.
I got a 12-year-old at home, too.
She was like, not understanding what all the excitement was about.
And she said, I can't get excited because I wasn't able to vote or anything like that.
But I said, we voted for her, we voted, and it's about the future.
This is like some historic stuff, man.
It's history.
And my fifth year old didn't want to even turn the channel on the TV, that's all I understand.
I understand.
But it is history.
It's history.
Do you think Howard and we were going to see this in our lifetime?
Man, you know what?
I was praying.
I was praying.
But the way Brother Obama did his whole thing throughout the whole campaign, he ran the
most perfect campaign in the history of politics.
In the history of politics.
And with that, I just said, it's got to be.
This is what it's got to be.
But then you think about, through history, the Republicans have been able to pull off
some crazy stuff.
What's up, man?
Ha ha ha ha ha!
Hey, what's up, boy?
This is a happy, ladies and gentlemen.
It's a happy, that's why it's a great cause.
It's a happy cause.
I'm still in this.
I mean, I'm out of time.
I got it.
I'm out of time.
I love you.
I hate you, sweet.
I'm going to kill you, Jacobs.
I'm going to kill you, Jacobs.
I'm going to kill you, Jacobs.
Supply.
I saw it.
Was I sick?
You're a sick man.
You're a sick man.
Yes, sir.
All the places you've been.
Nobody thought in their lifetime, nobody thought, period.
But most of the young people, talking to my kids tonight,
talking to my nephews and nieces, and they were tripping, man.
The babies was all excited, and my nieces and nephews
coming from New York, they're like in their young 20s,
and they were like, losing it, man.
So that's what it's about.
You know, when I went to the polls today,
because I didn't vote early, because I
wanted to get caught up in the whole thing, right?
But when I went to the polls, I took a picture of my mom
and a picture of my dad.
Because I wanted them to be right there with me.
And I had to say it, because I'm not getting out of here, man.
Yeah, I feel that, man.
I feel it.
Yeah, you got your baby with you tonight,
so you can't beat that with a stick, there you go.
I'm in tears, I can't believe it, but it's exciting.
Exactly, forever the image of the black man in the world,
the image of America, the image of the black man worldwide,
the image of America has been affected today.
Of course it has.
I mean, they've been rehearsing all this time,
but it's just official now, it's just a stamp.
It's all positive, it's all good.
We needed it, it's about time, you know, and we there.
But it is time, and the time is now.
You know, somebody said to me, he can't say yes, we can.
And I was talking to this lady hanging at the bar,
he said, yes, we will.
Yes, we will.
Yes, we will.
That was the whole thing.
This whole speech tonight wasn't about what he's going to do,
what it's about, what we have to do.
And that's what the whole thing's about.
It's about us as a country, man.
It's about us as a country.
And now this is the time, with everything that's going on
right now in this country, and all the stuff that's going on,
this is the time for us to be united as a people, not just
black people.
It's about good brothers like you, I've known over 25 years.
We've always been cool, man.
Always.
That's right, hey, we're born, man.
All about going the long road, keeping the long haul going,
working long and hard.
Here we are tonight, celebrating the accomplishment
of Barack Obama, the first African-American president
with these wonderful people.
And we all know him being made.
It's all good.
It's all good.
Yes, we can, baby, right on.
Peace.
Yes.
Terrific.
Thank you, sir.
