November 23rd, 1991, and the drought is over.
We're down here at the base of the big falls on the north fork of the Blackwater River
at a primo level.
We come out here and tell you to run the upper Blackwater and do some videoing, but it was
too high.
The Northern Hendricks is running 11 inches, so this is the alternative, north fork of
the Blackwater.
We're all psyched.
You can see Matt Puts making his way down now.
That's an experienced north fork boater.
He and myself ran at the spring.
Behind him we got Rodgers and Bell.
Rodgers and Virgin out here in the north fork.
We're going to have one hell of a day.
Also joining us is chopper John Cliff from Harper Square, West Virginia, as well as Kevin
O'Neill.
We've got a hell of a crew of hair boaters out here today.
While everybody get down here and get set up, we'll pick up the axon a little bit.
And here we are, down at the base of the big falls on the north fork.
Johnny Hot getting ready to rumble.
Camer's rolling.
There he goes.
Starting out.
This is a big rapid here, nice on the first shoot.
Yeah.
Good run, John.
Kevin O'Neill lining up, firing in, approaches the first drop real sweet.
Oh, nice.
Yeah.
Shoot him.
All right.
Yeah.
That was the old drop buster himself earlier.
Roger and I are going to be taking turns shooting the video out here today.
Next up we've got Matt Brotz.
Remember Matt has run this before.
This first grab is definitely one of the tighter out here.
The rest of them are for big slides and drops.
Matt has a beautiful, smooth-looking ride.
Last time Matt ran this, he ran a Corsica down.
He's got a pre-on T-Canyon now.
He likes it much better.
On deck, drop buster himself, Roger Zabel.
Behind him, we've got choppers up here somewhere.
There he is.
Okay, keep our eyes on Matt.
Come down to the run drop number two.
The idea is want to bang off that left shore.
Very nice.
Matt shows us how to do it.
That is going to be one of the most beautiful falls out here in the Blackwater watershed.
See Roger Zabel making his way down the top slots here.
Roger's patting a laser.
Really not the big volume boat you want to use out here on a creek.
If you find out there, Roger goes a little deep.
Rolls it up though.
No problem.
That'll wake him up.
Nice roll, Roger.
All right, now comes the second drop.
Roger's going to get his bearings a little bit.
Meanwhile, chopper's on deck.
Going to be ready.
All right, Roger's getting his bearings straight.
He's on it.
He's charging.
Remember, you want to hang far left here.
Nice.
That's the way to be.
Beautiful run.
Kevin and Matt down here set up safety.
Kevin's got a throw rope.
Matt's staying in his boat.
And on downstream, you can see the gradient continues.
Next drop, about a 25-foot slide.
We'll get out and scout it.
All right, looks like chopper's going to sweep it up here.
He's right on the money.
Looks like he's going to go to the right side of that hump there.
He's right on the money.
They're looking really good.
Kurska, good boat for out here.
Chopper doesn't waste any time.
He lines up for the second drop.
Real nice.
Right off the left shore.
Doesn't even get his face wet.
Good show.
What about wrapping up here at the top?
We're going to mosey on down and scout.
Set up the camera for the next big slide.
We'll see you there.
Down here at the bottom of our second major scout,
we're looking at about a 30-foot slide.
A little bit of vertical and middle.
Roger, Matt, and Chopper have already headed up.
It's going to be pretty difficult for me to see them coming.
I've got to keep my eyes open.
Can't see around the corner,
but this is definitely one of the bigger ones.
One of the first many big ones.
Bills over on the river right bank there,
signaling me that someone's coming.
It's Matt.
I missed him.
Like I said, it's not so hard to see what's going on here.
Sorry about that, Matt.
Roger should be right behind him.
Keep an eye on him here.
Sorry about when this camera run.
Like I said, I can't really see him coming.
Matt, how far behind is Roger going to be?
Not even close to him.
All right.
All right, listen, dude, I missed you.
I couldn't even see you coming.
No.
Roger's in view.
There he is.
We got him.
Right down the pipe.
He's looking good.
A little far right there.
He crunched.
He's okay.
Nice job, Roger Z.
That is one big drop.
All right, so Roger's turning around the camera.
He's going to get over the other side of the river
and get a little bit different angle.
He's going to be able to see us coming a little better.
Here we are at the chop.
Charging down the big double slide.
Awesome.
Yeah.
Yeehaw.
Back in the action.
Kevin jamming down the double big slide.
Woof over the first one.
The second one.
Nice ride.
Sweet.
That's how you do it.
Next Tim Gavin, Blue Angel, and down.
More like my ride.
That's kind of a big old sliding board into a big
Whompin' peaton rock right there.
You don't want to get too far left.
I got big Johnny Regan jamming into the slide.
He's starting a little further left and most.
Nice looking ride.
Ooh, a Whompa Whompa.
Yeah.
We heard it there.
Rock City.
That's going to move its own downstream.
We're back.
Matt Potts.
Just a little ten footer.
We got him that time.
Yeah, nice looking run Matt.
Kevin's on deck.
Roger over on the shore.
I had to walk down through the laurels.
That's the hardest part of the day I think,
walking down here to get all these cameras set up.
Chopper and Roger have a little conference there
discussing what to run it at.
Meanwhile, Kevin's on deck.
Looks like he's ready to go.
All right, it's not wasting no time.
Remember we got to save these batteries.
We got a lot of rappers to film out here.
We got about seven and a half minutes film so far,
and it's just to start.
Kevin's looking good.
Kevin's a hot boater.
Beautiful.
Nice run.
Matt's over there taking pictures with the still camera.
That's an impressive angle right there.
All right, Roger's a bell.
The old trap buster himself taking it on.
Nice.
Beautiful ride.
He's happy now.
Chopper and myself and we'll move on downstream.
A little bit different angle here.
Keep an eye on Chopper.
Wow, this is action.
Chopper's in fun form.
That's what we needed right there.
A little bit of action.
All right, it's my turn.
They're going to come down from the left side here.
The other guys come down the right.
It wasn't really sure to go.
That's my boat way up there.
It can take me about 15 minutes to get back up to it.
Pick up the action right there.
Here we go.
Got John lining up on the third drop here or the fourth drop.
This one of the unnamed big ones.
He's taking a slightly different line in everybody.
Kind of boogie left side.
We're paying out a little just to check in the gradient here.
This river just jumps away.
Nice stall out there.
We're going to keep on rocking.
Taking on the nice rooster tail.
Underfoot slide.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Some idea of what kind of gradient we're talking about out here.
That's the last drop back in the background that I was filming.
You see, I just took them both on here.
Boogie on down to get in my camera position.
Chopper says they're not quite ready to go yet,
so we'll let them get closer.
All right, I got the go ahead.
They're coming around the corner.
There's a lot of communication here.
It looks like Matt Prux.
This is one of the finer cleaner rides out here.
Boop to the right.
Oh, Matt's airborne.
Beautiful.
Next up should be Roger right on his tail.
Yes, let's go.
I say, pull him on.
Bring him on.
Roger's a valve.
Drought man himself.
This is birthday yesterday.
Broke the drought.
Nice boob.
Beautiful.
Talked to Kevin O'Neill.
Talked to Kevin yesterday.
It was Friday.
He isn't working.
He is really bowing out,
because we ran Upper Otter,
which is one of his favorites.
We ran it this spring.
He, myself, Matt and Bob Vernon.
He made it today for the North Pole and the Blackwater.
He's been wanting this for a long time.
He shows airborne.
Nice looking ride.
That is one hell of a nice rapid right there.
You can get some big air.
I'm not real sure what the gradient is in here.
It's got to be an excess of 200 feet a mile.
Chopper makes his way down.
Chopper's been down the Upper Bee with us several times.
Oh, nice boob.
He's been wanting this North Pole and the Blackwater as well.
We'll call it a wrap here.
Mosey on down.
We got a little mellow stretch, class 2-3.
Then the big 30 foot falls coming up next.
We'll see you there.
Here we are at the top, a gluteal mash.
One of the biggest runnable waterfalls I haven't come across yet.
John Regan's getting ready to fire it up.
You're going to pan down and scope it out.
You've got a little squirrely approach.
And you go scraping down this long slide.
And then boom!
The bottom drops out.
Yeah!
The bottom drops out.
The bottom drops out.
Here we go.
We're going to swing back up and catch John in the action.
Wow!
We got a happy camera.
He just made it.
That was a gnarly looking ride.
Whoo!
A little bit different angle.
It's fill up there at the top of the falls.
I'm on down here at the bottom.
It's going to be Matt and Kevin and Roger's turn.
It gives you some idea how big this drop really is.
30 feet of vertical North Pole to Blackwater waterfall.
It's beautiful.
It's doing a long way to go.
We'll let the guys get a little bit closer.
Pan on down.
Bill says someone's on his way.
I'm not sure who it is.
We'll see him here in a short though.
I can't see a thing from down here.
I just got to keep the camera rolling.
There he is.
Looks like Matt.
Beautiful!
I heard a little knock there.
I hope he's okay.
Whoo!
Big action!
Better coming down the way now.
It should be Kevin.
I see Chopper up on the rocks with Bill.
He was scouting on the river left side.
There he is!
Oh, big air!
Nice run!
Beautiful run, Kevin O'Neill.
That's what I like to see.
My battery likes flashing a little bit.
Chopper's up there looking at it.
It'll give me time to change the battery real quick.
We'll pick up the action with him.
Yeah, just as I thought.
I heard he's coming so I got to keep an eye on him.
I was looking at Matt's boat there earlier.
See, he did hit the bottom.
He heard himself.
He says he's going to have to hike out of here.
Keep an eye on Roger though.
We don't want to miss any of this action.
There's one beautiful waterfall.
You see the guys are all hanging out.
I saw a paddle blade. He's coming.
Keep an eye on him as he comes off the lip.
Drop buster, this is for you.
I don't know where he's at.
I guess he headed out.
Bill's doing some kind of hand signals up there.
I'm not sure what's going on.
No time to have any second thoughts.
Once you're in the approach, you're committed.
Come on, we're wasting up valuable battery.
We've got a lot of rapids left.
It's not just baby off.
Someone's a little nervous up there.
I'm not sure who it is.
It's Roger Zabel. There he comes.
He's off. Mr. Air.
Nice job, Roger.
Yeah, he looks good.
He's okay.
How about you, Matt? How you doing, buddy?
You okay?
You knee okay?
All right, I don't know about that boat.
Key Canyon.
Go right, Matt.
Yeah, Roger didn't beat on big air.
Yeah.
Got the word from Bill.
He says Chopper's on his way.
Let's keep an eye out for him.
We don't want to miss him coming up the falls.
We missed him, Gavin, because he's a little too fast.
You've got to wait and make sure the camera's set up.
There he comes.
He's got a nice line.
Beautiful Chopper.
Awesome.
Awesome Chopper.
Awesome ride.
That was beautiful Chopper.
Little mid-air flake time.
Beautiful run, dude.
Yeah.
More action downstream.
Time to pack this camera up
and mosey on down.
See you there.
That right there is probably
the most dangerous undercut out here on the river.
This could be one of the walks
for some of the few out here.
Very gnarly rapid.
The idea is you want to hug tight left
and land on that flat rock we just saw.
Stay right in the undercut.
If we look upstream, we see Roger Zabel
making his way down this small approach here.
It's a little rocky.
Big falls in the background.
Again, gives you some idea
of this awesome gradient.
Tim's going to take a different line there.
Some Gavin caught up to us
as usually.
Catches up to us.
He said we have shuttle all set up
and manages to bag a run with us.
Chopper right behind him.
Chopper's taking the right side there.
Beautiful.
All right, we've got everybody in the eddy
down here.
Time to do some filming.
All right, Matt Putz
is going to show us how to do it.
Remember, he's done this before.
The idea is to come from right to left
as hard as you can.
Jump up, land on the flat rock.
Beautiful.
Awesome run.
He's going on down.
You're going to take it on all the way.
Beautiful, Matt. Looking good.
Kevin's just opening it out now.
He's getting ready to run this gnarly
double undercut action rapid.
Perfect.
Takes it on down.
Ready for the big one?
The world's ugliest rapid.
They call it.
Nice boot.
Uh-oh.
We lost him there for a second.
That was a little scary looking.
I got Tim Gavin
lining up.
We're going to watch out.
There's Laredo
hiked on in here with Bill.
Feels been invaluable right now.
I can't see upstream
because people are coming down
so Bill's going to let me know when they're coming.
Quite a gnarly ride.
Not enough speed.
A little bit timid about it.
You've got to hit it hard.
So when you boop up that rock,
you can land on the slot angle
and right toward the camera, toward me.
I've got my bow in that nasty undercut right there.
It could have been bad.
It could have been bad news.
I hear Roger's making his way down now.
Let's keep an eye on him.
He's coming in the view anytime.
It's a great angle
for this rapid right here.
I like this getting the angles
shot from the top
and the bottom.
It shows you a little bit different idea
of what's going on. Oh, beautiful ride, Roger.
Yes. Beautiful ride.
Lookin' hot.
Lookin' hot.
Head on down, dude. Head on down.
Right in the center.
Angle right.
Just a little ledge.
Nice.
Another look at that horrible undercut.
Probably one of the most dangerous spots on the river.
Everybody's going to run it out here today.
I thought Matt was going to maybe take out
after the piton bomb in the big falls,
but he's a man.
He's going to take it on. Look at Chopper.
Very nice. Everybody
aces the move except myself.
I feel bad.
Come on, Chopper. Real nice run.
Alright, we're going to wrap it up here.
Chopper runs this little ledge here.
Mosey on downstream.
We've still got a lot of action left.
Remember, this is the north fork in the black water.
Probably the steepest run in northern
West Virginia. Nice job.
See you downstream.
That's our next drop. Not very far downstream.
Got a 10-foot drop. Matt Pets.
Big air.
Looking good. And right into the next drop down here,
which is right on the far left,
the point of piton rock at the bottom,
Matt smooths it.
Very nice indeed.
Kevin O'Neill.
Matter of big air ride.
Got a precarious position I'm in here.
Sit right on the lip.
Nice line, Kevin.
Beautiful. Here comes Roger Zabel.
Whoa!
Not as much air as before, but he had enough.
Just enough.
Again, down the left side.
Another fine looking run.
And Kevin, as usual,
this doesn't give us time.
He's a real quacker.
Back upstream
is the drop I've plugged up.
I really wish I'd aced that up there.
No, you can't run them all right.
Look at the little 10-footer
that you just have to land flat on.
It's Piton City.
If you go too far left,
you end up in the recirculating
Eddie of no return.
Chopper is charging off first here.
Pretty.
Nice boot, Chop.
That's going to take us on down
to the ugly, scrappy left-hand slide.
Beautiful run.
Yeah!
Contestants for the land flatter smash.
Our smash rapids is done.
We'll be coming into view in just a second.
There he is.
Oh, that was flat.
Yeah!
Just one of the many ones.
One of these things is going to get a little bit more fun.
And we're going to take it on
downstream.
Yeah!
Here we go.
We got Kevin rolling in.
This is the double slide
Mamba Jamba rapid.
Scurrying far right.
Looks like the pretty line.
Boom!
Now he's going for the last part.
He's out.
John ready to fire it up.
Zoom in on him a little.
Hope he doesn't bite that tongue off.
Uh-oh.
Not bad.
Good one!
Get that clutch now, zeroing in on it.
Oh, nice.
That's just where you want to be.
Now he's going to zip off the big ones.
Not too much profit.
Very good.
Yeah!
Topper says they're coming.
They had to wait patiently to walk down to the lulls.
This is a particularly tough one to get around.
Oh, he's got the camera down below.
Roger's about at the top.
Looking good.
Nice!
Nice boof there.
This is one of the longer rapids out here.
That'll line up with a big bottom drop here.
Go deep.
Nice run, Roger.
Topper's up top.
He says Jim Gavin's ready to come.
We're going to get him this time.
There he is.
That comes with a big second drop here.
It's kind of tough to get your line for it.
He's got it on the money.
Whoo! Yeah!
Nice ride.
Taking a peek downstream.
We see Bell. He's staying right with us.
Hiking through these lulls.
Pretty tough hiking in here.
Kevin's out.
Going to scout this one on the left side.
Probably go down there with the camera myself.
Matt's still in his boat.
Roger's down there behind the case.
He's in a good place in here.
He bet it's all polluted from mind acid.
We were here yesterday.
His baby was ripped and roaring.
Being the first time it ran
since probably April
by the drought all summer,
it stunk.
The sewage was terrible.
It stunk so bad.
So he went off and ran upper and lower R3.
Probably one of the cleanest
most pristine runs in the state.
11 miles
to the jumps on the drive board.
Definitely one of my favorites.
Upstream.
I see Chopper. Perfect timing.
I was worried about if he would be able to steam or not.
There he comes. He's right on the money.
Nice line.
A little hard hit at the bottom.
That's okay. You've got to stay away from that left bank.
He takes it right on down the middle.
Right down the pipe. Nice run, Chopper.
We'll call it a wrap here.
Take it on downstream.
Well, it looks like
we've come to our first walk here.
Kevin was out there earlier
trying to break the branches off.
If we get the branches off there,
we go under the tree.
It won't be a problem.
But it's just a little bit too heavy right now.
I know Kevin wants it bad.
This might be our first walk.
He's going to go back up there
and try to break him off again.
He's going to get a little help in hand.
What you do is you run off the right side
over there. It's not that difficult of a run.
Especially compared to what we've been doing.
He's lashed off this boot ledge there.
Take her on down to the right
with those little rocks.
What do you think, Kevin?
You saw.
Yeah, I hear that.
Bill and Lorraine don't think the same thing.
Let's take a look upstream here. We can see that wrap.
We just came down.
It's about gradient.
Don't get no steeper than this.
We're going to start walking around this.
We'll pick up the action downstream.
We'll see you there.
We're back in our boats.
Matt Plutz.
What we call Eye the Needle.
One of the prettier rapids out here by far.
It's not real difficult, but very, very pretty.
We call it Eye the Needle.
Look at Matt's boat there.
Took a little abuse there at
Big Waterfall. Here's the move.
Fine line. Beautiful.
Matt shows us how to do it.
We've got some nice eddies down here
to relax in
for the big stuff coming on downstream.
Next up, Roger Zabel.
He'll be on down and then
come back up and get the camera from me.
Nice little tail stand there.
Not much volume out here, but when it constricts
it's got some power.
Roger's right on the money, looking real good.
Right down in the sunshine. This is beautiful, folks.
Nice run.
Eye the Needle.
Take a look downstream.
You can see it just keeps on rolling.
We'll get the camera to Roger.
Let him shoot a different angle.
Eye the Needle.
John's going to be running it here.
And then his boat. I just saw him
move around that rock. Here he comes into view.
That first drop doesn't look like much,
but boy it messed with the first three of them
who ran it.
Sneaky little thing.
Right on the money there, John is.
Just lining up good.
Good.
Yeah.
Pretty.
That's the way you do it.
Eye the Needle.
Got the red, bad, big dogs
of the North Fork there together.
Off-road.
Matt, John, yeah.
There's the eye.
And as we look downstream
it just keeps on dumping.
Tim Gavin charging it up.
We're going to wide-angle it out a little.
Nice line.
If you were going to have Kevin O'Neill
let's see what this first little drop does to him
as he starts to thread the Needle.
Not bad.
Lining up on that second little spot.
Comes off of there nice.
Heads on down.
A wild slide.
Good boot.
No problem for that one.
Kevin's going really hot today.
Coming into view we're going to have Chopper.
He's winding up.
Maybe he does any wing-binging in here.
That first drop is really tricky.
Yeah.
He smooths it on out
and he's going to move on down.
Yeah, looking good, Chopper.
Yeah, go, Chopper, go!
Nice boot.
Finishes off sweet.
And that's going to wind us up for down here.
We're going to head it all downstream.
And here we are at Double Indemnity.
It's a two-part rapid, big slide
with just a short approach
to get your shit back together.
And then a big 15-foot falls.
Should be good act, John.
Rolling into the picture.
Rolling into the picture.
Yeah.
Nice.
Well, that's probably the hairiest move of the day.
Chopper lowered the camera.
$1,000 worth of equipment
for the rope down off the corner of the falls there.
I grabbed it from below
on my kayak and ferried it over.
Down here below, we get a bottom angle of this.
This is one of the more awesome drops out here.
Double Indemnity up here, it's called.
We've got Tim Gavin making his way down the first drop.
You can see the first drop.
There's a lot bigger that looks from here.
He's going to catch Eddie over there.
Shot him a little bit far left.
The idea is to come up that first drop
and angle it right so it sets you right up
for jumping off the
right ski slope
where Tim's at right now.
Making it look good.
Beautiful.
Last year, I ran it,
or I should say the spring right over there on the left.
Couldn't get quite to the ski jump off
and ended up on a little bit.
Not bad, but that's not the way to run it.
You run it over here on the right.
The action downstream does not stop.
Jerry, give me a holler.
I hear I got someone coming.
Looks like Matt Potts.
He's going to run it off the left side.
It's shallow there.
Woo!
It's okay though.
Good job.
The AP Ton wants today.
Doesn't need to be P Ton it again.
Top rubber in the distance.
Right to Zabel.
Just popping the view.
It's his Mr. Air.
He knows how to get it.
Let's see what he has in store for us now.
Line it up.
Coming right at the camera.
Here he comes.
Awesome Zabel.
Beautiful.
Woo!
He likes that stuff.
That was great.
Jerry tells me there's butter in sight.
There he is. It's Kevin O'Neill.
He's flying.
He took that first drop real fast.
Big air off the bottom drop.
Far out Kevin.
Looking good.
See it doesn't waste any time.
Getting our next class Bob.
We'll have to take a look at it here.
I'm balling it right now.
Three more to go.
That's the junction of the Blackwater right down there.
A welcome sight.
It's only a mile from where we put on.
One hell of a mile though.
Jerry says chopper's in sight.
There he is.
Lined right up.
Another fun looking ride.
Yeah chopper!
Got a little indemnity.
Our blast counter at the time we scouted out here.
I guess we can do it.
If we watch this take and we get home.
Find out how many drops there really are.
Let's go take a look at this.
That's in his boat.
He's run this before.
He ain't wasting no time.
This is a difficult rapid.
You don't want to get washed left.
Double boot.
Here he goes.
There's one beautiful.
And there's two.
Looking good. Very nice.
Double indemnity with
the run out at the bottom.
Boot falls.
Teak in and it's nice.
That's exactly what I thought.
Yeah.
That's exactly what I thought.
Been jamming it.
Catches a sweet boot.
Yeah.
Haven't lining up on it.
Checking out that beautiful view of double indemnity in the background.
Ooh, nice.
Not lining up with a big curler whamber.
And he disappears.
Well, there's the top drop.
Double indemnity.
Big 20 footer.
Kevin O'Neill.
Going for this double boot.
He's right on the muddy.
Awesome.
Nice job.
You can see, you don't want to get over on the left side.
Kevin's going right for it.
That's what I like to see.
This makes good video right here.
Right on down the slide.
Beautiful.
As you can see, off the distance there, we've got another log jam.
We've got to portage around.
Roger's a bell on deck.
The awesome double boot.
Mr. Air showing us how to do it.
Awesome.
Roger's having an awesome day now.
I think he's going to eddy out and take a look at it.
Hold on, Roger.
As you can see, you don't want to run the left side of this drop.
It's all kind of ugliness.
You've got to make sure you connect with that first boot.
So you don't end up getting washed to the left.
Right here is some gradient.
I'm talking gradient right now.
West Virginia style.
He says the greens got everything.
Nice.
Smooth.
Looking good, chopper.
Looking real good.
He's going to catch the eddy as well.
Woo.
Roger's ready to tackle this little slide down here.
It's kind of anticlimactic after what we just ran.
Lots of fun though.
Beautiful place right here it is.
It's coming down around that corner.
Also, when you see that log jam,
it gives you the EBGVs real quick.
The confluence right down yonder.
We're almost there.
Imagine we've got about 40 minutes of video shot now.
Chopper right behind Roger.
We're starting to click right now.
Starting to move.
Nice looking line, chopper.
Nice looking line. Beautiful.
Right behind chopper.
Tim Gavin.
Tim knows these rivers well.
He always manages to make it just in time.
He's soloed these runs.
Upper B.
North Fork in the B.
He knows where he's going.
There's another experienced North Fork
Blackwater Boater, Matt Potts.
Glad to see he's got a smile on his face again.
I think we're all smiling now knowing
that we're almost to the confluence.
Beautiful, man.
Let's take one last look.
This real steep stretch here.
Real steep stretch here.
Double boof.
The awesome double indemnity.
Well, next time I get the camera,
I'll probably be right at the confluence.
It's time to boogie.
Cold beer awaits us down in Hendricks.
See you down there.
Time to hit the log jam.
Everybody's portaging around.
Got to come and clean this out here sometime.
Confluence just around the corner.
I just had to get the camera back out
because this shot right here is worth a look.
From the last final big drops.
That's gradient right there.
Double indemnity.
Come down the center and off the right there.
Down the double boof.
Down through the slides.
That was a picture we just had to see.
One last time.
Great day, guys. Everybody looked great out there.
Everybody's hot.
Now we've got seven miles of the lower black water
at a good high level.
If I could do any filming down there,
this is what we came to shoot.
See you down at the confluence.
Alright, one final look.
We're at the final drop now
down to the confluence of the black water.
There's the boys.
That's a real fine day.
I'm going to wrap up the filming here.
Work your way to the right there, Roger.
Over to the right.
Yeah, we got the lower black water
right ahead of us.
Get going, Matt!
There goes Roger.
On down toward the confluence.
South fork of the black water.
That's a sight many folks don't get to see
coming down the north fork.
We've been down the upper B.
Probably half a dozen times by now this year.
We're really getting to know it.
It's the second time for the north fork.
Big action.
Yeah!
Nice day, chopper. You're awesome, dude.
Everybody.
Awesome job.
What's with John Regan?
Sam, what a hell of a great day we had!
Many more class 5 days to come.
We'll see you then.
