A tech billionaire wants to merge men and machines.
Facebook is spending millions to fight fake news, and the new Jesuit leader says Jesus
wasn't really clear about this man-woman marriage thing.
At Skywatch TV for Thursday, April 6, 2017, I'm Derek Gilbert.
First up, the death toll and the suspected chemical attack in northern Syria has been
raised to over 100.
More than 400 others were hurt.
A medical relief group said some medics treating the wounded were later injured by rubble when
an aircraft reportedly bombed a hospital.
President Trump responded to news with this statement, today's chemical attack in Syria
against innocent people, including women and children, is reprehensible and cannot be ignored
by the civilized world.
Last, the Trump administration appears to be on the brink of committing to more aggressive
military action in Syria.
Trump said the horrific attack had crossed many, many lines for him, saying it's now
my responsibility to respond to this crisis.
My attitude towards Syria and Assad has changed very much.
Vice President Mike Pence says all options are on the table.
U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley warned the U.N. Security Council emergency meeting that countries
could be compelled to act individually if the U.N. Security Council did not agree to
take collective action after the deadly poison gas attack, probably sarin.
Israel lined up behind Washington.
Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said they had proof Thursday that the order to launch
the sarin bombs against the northern town of Khan, Shakun, came directly from Bashar
Assad.
Now, Russian President Vladimir Putin is claiming that the bombs hit a rebel store of toxic
weapons, and he's trying to head off American military action against his ally Bashar al-Assad.
Washington and Moscow reportedly negotiating through the night on how and whether the United
States should intervene in Syria, hopefully without accidentally involving Russian troops.
And the arrival of China's President Xi Jinping Thursday today for meetings with President
Trump at his home in Florida complicates things.
If the U.S. takes military action, it will likely, in the minds of those in Washington,
D.C. and the Trump administration, have to be powerful enough to impress Trump's visitor
of America's determination not only to cut Assad down, but North Korea's leader Kim
Jong-un if China can't get their junkyard dog under control.
Meanwhile, Syria's foreign minister Walid Muallim denied Thursday that his country's
Air Force used chemical weapons, said that al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, the al-Nusra
Front, possessed those weapons.
Muallim also claimed that the condemnation of Syria was a coordinated effort and that
the only nation that benefited was Israel.
Speaking of Israel, Italy, Israel, Greece and Cyprus pledged Monday this week to move
ahead with the world's longest undersea gas pipeline from the eastern Mediterranean
Sea to southern Europe with support from the European Union.
The $6.2 billion pipeline would take gas from Israel and Cyprus, the recently offshore
gas field discovered there, and move those reserves to Europe, which could help reduce
Europe's dependence on Russian energy at a time when doing so is a political complication.
In a joint news conference in Tel Aviv Monday, the energy ministers from the four nations,
as well as the EU's commissioner for climate action and energy Miguel Arias Canete, pledged
their commitment to the project.
Feasibility studies are done.
The minister said that work on developing the gas field wouldn't begin for several years.
It may go online by 2025.
From the biblical perspective, here's the question, could this newfound energy wealth
be the hook in the jaw that draws Gog of Magog into the war prophesied in Ezekiel 38?
The Daily Caller reports that former president Barack Obama's national security adviser,
Susan Rice, ordered U.S. spy agencies to produce detailed spreadsheets of legal phone calls
involving Donald Trump's and his staff members, his aides, while he was running for president.
This is according to former U.S. attorney Joseph DiGenova.
DiGenova said, quote, the overheard conversations involved no illegal activity by anybody of
the Trump associates, nor anyone they were speaking with.
In short, the only apparently illegal activity was the unmasking of the people in the calls,
end quote.
Other official sources with direct knowledge who requested anonymity told The Daily Caller
that DiGenova's description of the surveillance reports ordered by Rice were ordered a year
before the election in 2016.
Colonel James Woreshick, former deputy director for intelligence at U.S. Central Command,
told The Daily Caller that many hands within the Obama administration would have had to
be involved in an operation of this size and scope, especially for a political spying operation.
Former National Security Council senior director Michael Doren told The Daily Caller on Monday
that somebody blew a hole, somebody in the Obama administration blew a hole in the wall
between national security secrets and partisan politics.
Again, if this information is correct, this is far bigger than the break-in at the Watergate
Hotel that forced the resignation of President Richard Nixon.
But the fake news media, otherwise known as the mainstream media, is leaping to Susan
Rice's defense.
CNN's Don Lemon said that his viewers should ignore the scandal surrounding Ms. Rice.
Washington Post calls it a fake scandal, ginned up by Trump.
The New York Times reporting that Trump cites no evidence that Rice did anything wrong.
And liberal or journalist David Corn of Mother Jones suggests that perhaps all of this is
because Ms. Rice is black.
Meanwhile, House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunez has announced he will temporarily recuse
himself, step aside, from the investigation into connections between the Trump administration
and Russia, or the Trump campaign more accurately.
In a statement, Trump, or rather Nunez, continued to call the charges, questioning his impartiality
baseless, but said it would be in the best interests of all for him to temporarily step
aside.
Speaking of fake news, Facebook is teaming up with other tech companies to launch a $14
billion campaign to end news illiteracy and improve public understanding of journalism.
This is, according to a release, citing Campbell Brown, former CNN news commentator and Facebook's
head of news partnership.
The nonprofit News Integrity Initiative, sponsored by Facebook, Mozilla and other tech
industry leaders, will be based at the City University of New York.
Frankly, this is just a bit condescending, as though you and I are too stupid to figure
out for ourselves what constitutes accurate journalism and what is fake news.
This is a PSYOP intended to get us to trust the mainstream media once again.
Go back to sleep, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
Knoxville, Tennessee could be the first city in the U.S. where Obamacare completely collapses.
Tens of thousands of people could be left without health insurance coverage because
of this.
Humana, the city's only remaining insurance provider on its Obamacare exchange, has announced
it is getting out of the market in 2018.
And if that happens, Knoxville citizens will be in a tough spot, unless another insurance
provider steps in.
Up to 40,000 people in the Knoxville area could be left without an option for an Obamacare
subsidized insurance policy.

Something is killing thousands of birds in Atlanta.
Since spring began, the death toll has been rising every week.
And for Atlanta office workers, it's becoming a daily routine, dead birds on their doorsteps.
The Audubon Society has got volunteers out tracking and finding the dead and dying birds,
most frequently found the ruby-throated hummingbird, which we just put out our feeders for.
They've been spotted in northern Arkansas.
Apparently, the birds are falling victim to brightly lit skyscrapers in business districts.
The lights attract their attention as they're flying overnight to avoid predators.
The birds fly into the glass, follow their deaths, or circle around confused until they
fall from fatigue.
So Atlanta has joined the state of North Carolina as the only southern states to try
to combat the bird deaths with a new program called Lights Out Atlanta.
Owners of office towers are being asked to volunteer to shut down non-essential lights
between midnight and sunrise during the spring and fall migration seasons.
The New Superior General of the Worldwide Jesuit Religious Order said recently that because
Jesus Christ's words about marriage were never recorded, and he means with a mechanical
or digital recording device, which didn't exist in the first century, you understand,
there's no basis for a black and white church doctrine on lifelong marriage between one
man and one woman.
Oh, this came out during a recent interview with a Vatican journalist.
Father Arturo Sosa Abescal said that Jesus' words about marriage must be contextualized
and discerned.
Human reality, he said, is much more nuanced and never black and white, said Abescal.
He was elected Superior General of the Society of Jesus, the Jesuits, last October.
The journalist said to Abescal that the prefect of the congregation for the doctrine of the
faith, Cardinal Gerhard Muller, observed that the words of Jesus were clear and that no
power in heaven or earth has the faculty to modify them.
In other words, what Jesus said stands yesterday, today, and forever.
The Jesuit Superior responded by saying, at that time no one had a recorder to take down
his words.
What is known is that the words of Jesus must be contextualized.
They are expressed in a language, in a specific setting.
They are addressed to someone in particular, frankly, and being quite blunt.
This is Weasel language, the part of Father Abescal.
Look, the only way you can say what he is saying is if you detach Jesus from God the
Father, because his words to Moses about marriage were pretty clear.
And if you believe in a triune God, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, what God said, Jesus said,
in effect, if you really want to dig into the doctrine of the second power in heaven
and note that the angel of Yahweh, the angel of the Lord, was present on Mount Sinai with
Moses, you can make a deadlock case that it was Jesus who actually gave the law to Moses.
And Jesus was clear.
And look, Jesus is the one who said, in the beginning, created him male and female and
went on from there to describe this saying that nobody was there or the recorder to understand
exactly what he said or the context in which he said it.
That's the kind of thing an attorney, a defense attorney does when he's trying to get a guy
off, you know, get him out of charge.
This is why conservative Catholics are really upset with Pope Francis, because Pope Francis
is a Jesuit and Father Abescal apparently has the Pope's ear.
I mean, he actually said, I'm not bringing into doubt, I'm bringing into discernment.
Weasel words.
In South Carolina, lawmakers are currently considering a bill that would declare that
the unborn have protection as persons.
The tenant governor, Kevin Bryant, introduced Bill S217, also known as the Personhood Act
of South Carolina, simply recognizes that both federal and state constitutions acknowledge
God as the creator of life and the bestower of liberty.
During discussions around the bill, as it was introduced, a registered nurse, Laura
Foltz, read a segment from a medical textbook in advising that a fertilized egg is indeed
a new life.
Vicki Ringer of Planned Parenthood, South Atlantic took issue with the bill because
it doesn't allow for any exceptions and would ban the destruction of embryos from infertility
treatments.
And a couple of lawmakers in South Carolina want to establish a network of self-sufficient
communities in the event of a collapse.
They hope to train and equip one million neighborhood leaders to establish a fresh beginning for
America in the aftermath of a crisis like the detonation of an electromagnetic pulse
weapon over the country.
That could send us back to the technological equivalent of 1835 in a matter of minutes.
State representatives Josiah Magnussen of Campobello, South Carolina, and Jonathan
Hill of Townville, South Carolina, that's the upstate region, are in the process of
setting up what they call the Virtue Solution Project, a group seeking to save America or
survive a societal collapse, which, if you read Bible prophecy, could very well be on
the horizon.
The founder of Tesla Motors and SpaceX, Elon Musk, launching a new company called Neuralink,
his intention to connect human brains to computers.
Wall Street Journal reported that the billionaire whose other interests include wanting to send
humans to Mars is exploring neural lace technology, something that could be implanted in the brain
that would give you a direct Wi-Fi connection to a computer processor.
Musk not officially announced the new company, but he did confirm it via Twitter when it
was reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Neuralink was registered in California as a medical research company last year.
The journal reports that Musk plans to fund this operation entirely on his own.
One final note, not normally in the habit of recommending new movies, and to be honest
I can't really tell you whether this is a good movie as a movie or not, but it is a
movie that's based on a book that really impacted my life.
It is a movie adaptation of the journey of former atheist Lee Strobel, who was an investigative
journalist for the Chicago Tribune back in the day.
His wife converted to Christianity and Strobel decided he was going to prove to her with
his journalist and attorney's training and wound up being convinced that Jesus Christ
did in fact live, die, and rise again from the dead.
The movie, The Case for Christ opens in theaters around the country tomorrow.
And again, whether the movie is any good or not, I highly recommend the book, especially
if you've got friends who demand evidence, and that's another good book too, Josh McDowell's
Evidence that Demands a Verdict.
Skywatch TV, available online this week, Skywatch TV web exclusive, Timothy Almarino, talking
about the research trip to the American Southwest, the Four Corners region that culminated in
their forthcoming documentary, True Legends.
There were giants, I guess it's been renamed, True Legends holocaust of giants, and we'll
have more on that project in the weeks ahead with Tom Horn and Steve Quayle as guest on
the program.
We've been talking a lot about the deep state and some of the political intrigue taking
place in Washington this week.
That's the topic of our weekly program this week featuring Lieutenant Colonel Bob McGinnis,
author of the excellent book Future War.
You really need to get a copy of that because not only does he discuss the future of warfighting,
he goes into some detail on how technology is changing what it means to be human.
He gets it both from a military perspective and from a societal perspective.
Transhumanism is something we Christians are going to have to come to terms with.
Both of those programs are available online at skywatchtv.com.
The web exclusive programs are also only at Skywatch TV's channels on YouTube and on
Roku.
You'll find my web stuff online at DerekPGilbert.com including new articles related to the release
of the book, The Great Inception, and we're told that the books may be here as early as
tomorrow.
The truck is on the way.
Thank you for your patience.
And if you're wondering, I feel a lot better than I sound.
Actually, if I just talked like this, I'd sound like John B. Wells, which I had hoped
would happen without having to get it cold first.
But tomorrow, join us for Cy Friday.
My best friend will be here, Sharon K. Gilbert, and we look for you then.
Until then, thank you for watching as we keep watching.
I'm Derek Gilbert, and this is Skywatch TV.
