In Vietnam they draw art classes after 8th grade and people didn't really appreciate the importance of art.
Photography is something very unexpected. When I first came to the U.S. I thought I wanted to be an architect
but I realized the precision and the meticulousness of architecture is just not for me.
I'm very interested in psychology and the subconscious. I'm very influenced by surrealism movement
where there's a lot of symbolic imageries and dreams and memories.
Throughout my fashion work as well as my fine art work, for me it's very interesting to explore the complexity of the human mind.
With fashion I have the chance to be creative and to try out new things, try out new ideas.
It gives you so many chances to be experimental and then to meet so many passionate people
because the fashion world is so competitive and most of the time people do it because they love it.
The fashion lookbook I never actually think it would come true because Scott never had a currently enrolled student shoot for the lookbook before.
We talk about ideas and concepts of what they want to do in order to communicate visually. They take a lot of research like pulling images,
things like that to present ideas to the creative director of the shoot.
It was really, really a great experience. A little bit stressful too because I definitely don't want to disappoint
because Scott took a chance on me and that makes me feel really special.
They appreciate your talent and give you opportunity to show it.
While in New York I had a chance to intern at Art and Commerce, they are one of the biggest photo agencies in the world
and they represent some of my most favorite photographers like Stephen Meisel and Tim Walker.
I had a chance to work with the production division. Really helpful experience that made me feel more well-rounded.
In order to graduate on time, I had to take online classes and I had the opportunity to do that through Scott E-Learning.
E-Learning gave me the opportunity to do everything that I wanted to do, my internship to take classes and finishing up school
and then I also have time to do my own photo shoot on the weekends.
You can master your skill and technicality and vision but you have to learn how to manage money and permission, model release and things like that.
All those are really, really important skills to help you become a successful working photographer
because if you don't know how to manage your money, it doesn't matter how talented you are.
I become a completely different person on set.
I get really excited. I was like jumping around, smiling. I love loud music. It's like a party.
I believe that if I exude positive energy, that can be infectious.
I love what I do so I always express it.
