Welcome to CitiWireTV, I'm Rich Harris. There's a lot of anger around the world at those financial
elites who have been punished for their sins, in many cases with taxpayer bailouts, but
only here in America as it resulted in this, a weeks-long protest to occupy Wall Street
where several hundred people have already been arrested. We've come along to see what's
going on.
When we were over in Afghanistan, it couldn't tell civilians and militants a lot of the
time, and there's women and children that were forced to fight, and whereas here we
know who the enemy is, the enemy is Wall Street, the enemy is the big banks of the corrupt
government that are trying to force the people into slavery.
When I served this country, I fought for the Constitution of the United States to its
end. If you don't have any money, if you don't have a job, there's no way to sue happiness.
When you grow up, your whole life, you're told go to college, so you can get a good job.
So I ended up 150 grand student loan. Now I have two degrees and a job and I can't afford
to pay my students, so I don't make it look money. So, you know, it's a question of whether
I want to eat, or whether I want to pay my bills, and I'll tell you what, my stomach
feels a lot better when it's full.
We need a redistribution of the wealth in this country. If it doesn't happen today, it's
never going to happen.
Let us go! Let us go! Let us go!
Oh, whoa, he's watching! Oh, whoa, he's watching!
Help us! Help us!
People were arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge. The cops invited them to walk on the roadway,
which they're not supposed to do, and gave the impression, oh, it's okay to walk here.
Then they all moved down into the road, and then they got out these big red netting pens
things and swooped them all in and arrested them.
People were arrested because of NYPD incompetence. NYPD incompetence, what was that?
They cornered us off on the Brooklyn Bridge, we just wanted to go from one side to the other.
They trapped us on the bridge and arrested 700 people.
700 people here got arrested yesterday on the Brooklyn Bridge.
And these people are getting away with crying every day and nothing is happening.
We need to take the money out of the political show.
We need to save the money out of the political show.
And to the corporate lobbyists, we simply say, no!
And to the corporate lobbyists, we simply say, no!
We all recognize that we need to get corporate money out of politics if we want real democracy in this country again.
When the economy fell apart a few years ago, we gave a lot of money to the banks.
The reason we gave them money was they were going to start mowning it out again and keep things going.
And what they did is they were like, thank you for the money, we'll invest it in something,
we'll put some in our pockets, we'll shore up our bottom lines,
but if you run alone, you ain't getting it.
I think there was a lot of disenchantment with the Obama administration.
He ran on a platform of change, right?
And then we didn't see any change.
We just saw more of the status quo doing the same thing that a Republican president would do
and seemingly basing all his policies towards the interests of the 1% of the wealthiest Americans
and not doing anything to help the rest of us.
At some point, things are going to come to a boil.
You know, I know they are starting things like this in other cities, they had a protest in Boston yesterday with the arrests.
And I've been told there's something going on in Los Angeles.
Whether you're here or not, everybody can be in solidarity with this movement,
the movements that are going around the world, around the world.
You don't physically have to be here.
Start moving in your own community.
Help is in the first liberated spot in the new United States.
