This is our second box session featuring the very, very talented Prisca.
She started playing the piano when she was four, it's going to really feature just her
amazing talent.
So welcome Prisca!
Thanks guys, how are you guys doing?
How are you feeling though?
You know, let's talk about that, let's break it open.
I'm feeling like I just drove in traffic for an hour.
How are you guys feeling?
That's totally different from how I'm feeling, but I feel you.
Okay, so I'm going to do a couple of songs for you guys, I'm actually going to start
with a cover.
This is a song called The A Team, and it's by Ed Sheeran, but there's a version by Birdie.
Do you guys know Birdie?
She's like this like 16 year old British singer, and she like blew this song out of the water.
So it's been like stuck in my head ever since, so I'm going to play it for you guys.
Okay, so I'm going to start with a song called The A Team, and I'm going to play it for
me.
Wasting, crumbling like pastries And they scream, worse things than life
Come free to us, cause we're just under the upper hand
We're mad for a couple grams She don't wanna go outside to a night
When in a pipe, she flies to the motherland Goes out for another man
It's too cold outside For angels to fly
For angels to fly
Ripped clothes, raincoat Tried to swim, but stay afloat
Dry house, wet clothes
Lose change, banknotes We're re-eyed and dry-throat
Call girl, no phone And they say she's in the class 18
Stuck in her daydream Been this way since 18
But lately her face seems Slowly sinking, wasting
Crumbling like pastries And they scream, worse things than life
Come free to us, cause we're just under the upper hand
We're mad for a couple grams She don't wanna go outside to a night
When in a pipe, she flies to the motherland
Her cells left to another man It's too cold outside For angels to fly
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Cause we're just under the upper hand Go mad for a couple grams
She don't wanna go outside to a night
When in a pipe, she flies to the motherland
Her cells left to another man It's too cold outside
For angels to fly For angels to die
Thank you!
So if you've heard the Ed Sheeran version of that song, it's like super happy, you know?
It's like white lips, pale face, and then you like break down the lyrics and you're like,
oh, it's about drugs And like, you know, don't do drugs
Okay, so this next song, I feel like we gotta get the pace going a little bit
That was a little slow, I know I got you
So my name is Priscilla Liang, but I go by Priska
Cause Priscilla's too hard to spell
It's actually a nickname my mom gave me as a kid
I should be like, Priska, like in front of my friends
And I'd be like, hey, don't call me that
But now, now look at me
Can I get my vocals just higher in this speaker?
I feel like, is that, I feel like I can't hear myself
Okay, is that good?
Okay
Ready?
Okay, so this song, have any of you guys gone panning for gold?
Me neither
I'm just kidding
But basically, I was editing this one video
It was a wedding video, I hate wedding videos, I hate editing them
They're cute like day of and then when you're editing them, they're really bad
But this guy talked for 40 minutes, he was like the best man for 40 minutes about panning for gold
But in the end, it was actually really sweet, you know?
Because he was like, I pan for gold for like five minutes
And my friend the groom pan for like five hours
And I was like, F this, I'm gonna get a beer
And I come back and he's, sure enough, he had little flakes of gold in his pan
So I was like, wow, that's like, you know, when you really work for it
You can find the hidden potential in things
So that is where the song came from
Oh, that feels good, okay
Oh, I'll never look back
And I will never look back
And I know I can be patient, but know I can't be free
When you're pulling on my heart strings and I'm falling back to sea
And I know I've always loved you, you know it to be true
My heart was made just for you, it was tearless just for you
But when time seems heavy as glass
You will notice why I must go
I know there was no in the river that night when you stole me away
I saw all the eyes on the back of your eyes when you shook me the day
Oh, I'll never look back
I'll never look back
I'll never look back
And I know there was gold in the river that night when you stole me away
I saw all the eyes on the back of your eyes when you shook me the day
And I, and I, and I will never look back
Thank you
Thank you guys for coming tonight. It's hot in here, huh? Are you guys feeling okay?
I have like this ice cold water I want to share with everybody. It feels really good.
I like the camera on roller skates. It's kind of cool.
Okay, so can I do one more song, two more songs, seven more songs, like a thousand more songs, you know, thousand?
Okay, cool. You guys are, you guys took the day off tomorrow, right? Me too.
Okay, I'll do two more songs. This next one, it's called Keep to the Path.
How many of you guys are recent grads or like unemployed or recently unemployed?
I know we're Asian. It's embarrassing to say.
Cool. Is everyone else gainfully employed? Everyone else is gainfully employed?
Yes. Okay. Okay.
Anyway, I was unemployed for maybe about a year, like after graduating college, which was fun.
I actually used to work at a Chinese TV station, like right across the way.
But I got let go because they didn't need ABCs anymore.
I wrote this song during this time about, I think I was really bitter, you know, for a long time.
I was really bitter about not being able to find a job about, you know, when you're a kid, they're like, you can be anything you want.
And you quickly find that's not necessarily true. So this is a song about keeping to the path, even if it gets weird.
I was told to keep my hands and feet safe inside the vehicle.
I was promised I could be anything that I wanted to.
As long as I put my hands and feet to you, to you.
I want you to be my life.
I want you to be my life.
I was told I could be anything that I wanted to.
So I must move before I lose myself to the reckless threat of time.
I cannot see.
Time is crashing.
We're always moving way farther away.
All I want is to be still, but now we're farther away.
I will keep to the path of your strength.
So I must move before I lose myself to the reckless threat of time.
Time is crashing. We're always moving way farther away.
All I want is to be still, but now I'm farther away.
So I must move before I lose myself to the reckless threat of time.
So I must move before I lose myself to the reckless threat of time.
So I must move before I lose myself to the reckless threat of time.
I was told I could be anything that I wanted to.
So I must move before I lose myself to the reckless threat of time.
So we're standing here, watching these old ships unsung to this dark ocean.
And I feel just like I've been thrown overboard, and I never got to ask why.
So you swept the hair out of my face, and you saw the tears streaming down.
Even though it's over and done with, well I guess I still want you around.
So please, come rescue me. You ripped and pulled in my soul, and I'm sinking in a sloth.
I'm breaking apart, and I'm sinking in a sloth.
But all those times that you whispered to me, I loved you softly on the evening air.
Well I guess I believed you, and I didn't think you were the lying demon.
So please, come rescue me. You ripped and pulled in my soul, and I'm sinking in a sloth.
I'm breaking apart, and I'm sinking in a sloth.
So please, come rescue me.
So I'm watching you, I'm watching you from a distance, and you're smiling with another.
So please, come rescue me. You ripped and pulled in my soul, and I'm sinking in a sloth.
So please, come rescue me. I'm breaking apart, and I'm sinking in a sloth.
Thank you guys, thanks a lot.
