before practice to kind of reintroduce myself to limerock. I haven't been here
in four years or more and I've won here in the past and I look at the corners
and I think, you know, I like these corners. They're fast. It's a flowing fast
course. It takes a lot of bravery and I'm a little intimidated by that downhill.
In the first practice, I just wasn't quick there yet. I'm still coming up to
speed. The second practice, I was leaning on my engineer Will Moody on the K-Pax
team. I couldn't put my finger on the handling. It wasn't understeer or
oversteer. It just needs some confidence in the car and I found a way
to do it by softening up the back suspension and I just felt better inside.
You know, like, okay, okay, now we can go and then we qualify. Busy day. Practice
qualifying. And in qualifying, I just felt like the K-Pax bubble was handling
really well. I feel like I drove it well. Like, the whole team came together and
we're fourth. Fourth isn't great. Fourth isn't bad. But the good feeling is that I
feel like we really got what the car had to give today.
I'm happy with the race. K-Pax car was utterly reliable. All systems
would go. Stuck with the lead pack in fourth place. Pressure from behind. Trying
to pressure those ahead of us. And the car was a little hard on the front tires.
So we're going to try to adjust it to get better balance for the race tomorrow
without going too far and making it too fishtail-y. So that's the challenge. Plus
we get to racing in tomorrow and we're going to Toronto again next week. So in
a sense it's like an endurance race. We've got a lot of good points. We're
still in good shape for the season. We're going to try to make the car better
tomorrow. The heat. It can be our friend if we really nail a setup. The Volvo's
got to be just right to win here.
Race two for line rock. We adjusted the car to make it a little better. We had a
standing start today and the Volvo S60 rocks the standing start jump right by
the Cadillac. Running hard. Got hung up in traffic. Man, a guy just pulled right
from me. I even bumped him and the Cadillac shot by me. After that we're
just running and running. It looked like we might get him when everybody's tires
got good and hot. But then there was a yellow on the restart. It was a flat-out
sprint. Brought it home in third place in wild traffic. It's a good day for the
K-Pax Racing Volvo team. And let me tell you buddy, we're on the comeback trail.
you
