We had to have several blood transfusions and without the donators, she wouldn't be where she is today.
What are some of Tako's favorite things to do in the house now?
Oh, she lays on her couch, she has her own couch.
She plays with Betty, she just loves me, she follows me around like a shadow.
I don't mind that, they're felt growth pets anyway.
I don't know what I do honestly without her, we haven't had her that long.
We took the time and we put in the work that it took when she was heartworm positive.
We did everything, but on August 22nd when we were able to let her out, that was the best day.
I had him bowed at the back door and I opened it and she's like, what?
I get to go outside.
She loves to rock.
She went out and she hasn't stopped since.

Sarah was abandoned to a city shelter very skinny and dazed from giving birth.
After she nursed her pups, they were all adopted into loving homes and it was time to focus on Sarah's needs.
She needed surgery on both of her terrible hips.
She had a femoral head osteotomy on one side followed by several weeks of water therapy.
Then she had the other side done followed by even more therapy.
She's now happy and active with her loving family.
Queenie was rescued off an online garage sale group.
She had evidence of chronic infection in her face wrinkles, her eyelids needed surgery, and several broken teeth were extracted.
Then she had a routine spay and a non-routine mammary lump removal.
When she was recovered from her two major surgeries, she started on her heartworm treatment.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, Queenie was able to get all the medical treatment she required.
While she was recovering in her foster home, they decided it was her forever home.
People call it foster failing when you adopt your foster, but no one feels like they failed when it comes to Queenie.
The moment he came into our house, he was a joy.
People said, oh, you guys gave him such a wonderful life for seven months.
Well, he did the same thing for us. He took an empty dark house and brought life into it.
What would you like to say to everybody that donated toward his surgery and made it possible for IDR to do that surgery?
Well, thank you. I would like to thank everyone that donated for his surgery because...
They helped us spend seven great months with him.
Yes, and he had a great seven months too, I believe.
And I wouldn't have changed it for the world.
Jake would have been very, very happy.
He wouldn't have wanted us to be so sad.
No, no. And I think Jake had a part in it for us to get him.
And they're totally different dogs, but doves are dope.
I know today's tough to make ends meet sometimes, but five dollars helps.
You know what I mean? Whatever you can afford.
And what doves have done from day one, they've just brought so much love.
