Today I'm going to show you how you can use RSS feeds to simplify a task like downloading
television shows.
Okay, so the first thing you need to do is go to tvrss.net and here they have a whole
list of shows and an individual feed for each one or a feed for all of them.
So because I'm going to just demonstrate one, go to shows and you can go down using the
letters.
There are quite a few or you can use control F but there's J-Pod, Canadian show on CBC
and you can see here in the results for this one show there's 12 episodes in the season
there's seven aired so far and by using RSS feeds as a new episode is aired on Fridays
it will automatically download them for you.
So we want the search based RSS feed, just click on that and copy.
Next thing you need to do is open U-Torrent.
On the toolbar there's RSS downloader, select that and we need to add the feed so we add
a feed and we enter the name of it and a pipe, the vertical line is usually above the entry
key and then control V to paste it.
The reason we add the title at the beginning and the pipe is so that it makes it easier
to read.
I'll just demonstrate here.
If I add another one and just go paste you can tell that it says J-Pod and if you go
here you can see that it does say J-Pod in here but it's much easier to read that one
so that's why you add the title at the beginning so let's just delete that one we don't need
it and we want to go to favorites and add a new one.
So we're going to do J-Pod, select J-Pod and filter anything that starts with J-Pod and
then an asterisk because as you can see here each one starts with J-Pod and then it has
additional information in the file name so we want to just limit it, just make the requirement
that it says J-Pod.
It shouldn't be a problem because it's a feed, we're going to use the J-Pod feed which
only has J-Pod.
So we want to tell it where to save it so I'm going to say drive L, TV and then J-Pod.
So it'll create a folder called J-Pod inside the folder TV.
We can choose the quality, this way I noticed most of them were HDTV so we'll just go HDTV
and TVRIP.
You could select, this prevents things like webrips which would be a lower quality or
large files like the 1080i and 1080p high resolution.
So they would be extra file size that may not be necessary.
As you noticed in the feed it has that information about season and episodes so we can use the
episode number and start episode filter, we want season 1 so we go 1 and then X1.
So now this would automatically download episode 1 of season 1 but because there's 12 episodes
we go dash 12 so now it will download anything in that range.
We can also label it so J-Pod, that'll just make it easier to see here when you have a
download with that label.
So I think that's really all there is to do.
So now every time this updates it'll automatically download.
So let's just update it and I'll show you what would happen.
There we go.
So it, I noticed it's smart enough to automatically skip the repack and so we can close that
and we'll just stop those and remove and delete torrent and data.
So it's just one more way to use RSS feeds to simplify something so I hope you found
that beneficial.
