One of the things that this cave struck me was as you were going down in the open water
area around 40 to 45 meters there are several human skeletons along the floor and not only this
but we could see in one of them in particular some chains and shackles which meant that that
person was chained and then thrown into the water apparently some kind of punishment roughly 60
years ago or so before the revolution it took place here in China
hello my name is Daniel Reardon I am a scuba diving cave instructor for global underwater
explorers GUE this was a four-day project that the guys in Shanghai organized for us and the
logistics for this project were quite complex as the cave is located 13 hour drive from Shanghai
this involved bringing all our equipment with us which was all the scuba diving equipment
uh rebreathers scooters tanks and all the necessary stuff for a cave exploration project
the cave is a little bit challenging in the sense that the visibility is not the best so
scootering in this lower visibility presented a bit of a challenge since it can drop quite fast
due to due to the percolation from the ceiling as well as the particulate getting stirred from the
bottom during this time our maximum depth reached by the team was 82 meters the team consisted of
five divers where we did four dives over four days the average time that we spent in the water
our bottom time was anywhere between 60 to 80 minutes and the compression associated with this
during the four days we were very efficient at achieving the goal that we had to see if
there was any ongoing passage in this cave as we were suspecting by day two what we were
dealing was what not was not one cave with multiple passages but was just one very big room
in order for us to prove our suspicion we laid a perimeter line that by day four was joined
to to in the middle proving that it was just one very big passage
as i see it the potential for cave exploration in china is just starting the surface has just
been scratched and i believe more sites are not accessible nowadays is because of the
complex and the logistics that will allow people to get into the those caves but i believe the
potential for cave exploration in china is amazing
