Welcome to our aquaculture system.
Currently, we have a lot of plants growing in here, but usually, not right now, we have some fish in these tanks.
Now, how it works is, we've been raising tilapia, and these are 700 gallon tanks,
and for tilapia, you could have one tilapia per gallon growing in these tanks.
So technically, we could have 700 in this tank alone.
And what happens is the fish live in here, grow up, the water that they poop in, then gets filtered up,
and through this blue tank, and then up into this top level water bed.
And all of these water plants filter out any impurities, and then the water flows around.
And eventually, it drains into our pea gravel bed.
Yes, and this is where we grow all our plants, just in pea gravel,
and the plants uptake all the nutrients from that fish poop and grow amazingly.
And then, the water then gets filtered back into the tanks, and when it gets filtered back in,
it is free of any impurities or anything, and it's perfectly good for the fish to keep living in.
So it's a closed system.
And some of the plants that we've been growing in the water beds are watercress and red azolla,
as well as what's the other one that we grow to feed the tilapia with?
No, duckweed, thank you. Yeah, duckweed is the other one.
And just to feed the tilapia, which is great, because tilapia, in their older age, grew up to be vegetarians.
So we can close that loop as well.
And as you can see, we have a thriving garden in this pea gravel bed.
We have a banana plant right here. It's a little baby, but it's coming along.
We have a lot of peppermint growing.
We have some of our starts. We have a tomato right here.
Oh, excuse me.
And a lot of things that have been in here all winter long, like some mustards.
And we are growing akibia and passion flowers.
Oh, and you should check out our strawberries.
And it's, what, mid-April right now, and we almost have a ripe strawberry here.
So really exciting.
We get a lot of things really early in this bed.
And, yeah, it's a really amazing place to be in the summertime,
because it is so humid and it feels so tropical in here.
We can grow citrus. We can grow mate, bananas.
So it's a really pleasant place to be.
So, yeah, that's our aquaculture system here.
It's second year right now, so we're still working out the kinks, but it's been really great.
We harvested a lot of tilapia last year, and it's working out wonderfully.
Sounds fantastic to me.
That's all I got for you.
Did you get this?
Yeah, I got it.
