I am Peter.
I am an artist and a writer.
Here I have my breakfast. I help mum make my bed.
And then I get on with whatever the day is going to be.
Cheryl has come today to do some painting.
We work all day and she doesn't go home until after five.
I like big bright bold colors the most, like reds and blues and greens.
I mostly like to do abstracts.
It can take a long time to do a painting because it has to dry between coats.
I just love my painting days.
They can be very tiring, but when you love doing something as much as I love painting,
tiredness is a secondary consideration.
People at my exhibition said my paintings were very good and I was very clever but that is only half the story.
I cannot do it on my own and I am grateful for the help I have received.
I have wonderful people around me helping and guiding me and doing a lot of work to get me where I am.
That is why I try so hard to get the message out into the community that we can do anything if people will only help and support us.
Today we are working on the illustrations for my new Josh book.
I had Josh going to the library with the other toys.
In my story books I write about my life's experiences, about acceptance and friendship and being different.
I couldn't have written my books without FC and a good facilitator.
When I write my books mum or someone else takes the story from me, then Marcia helps correct it.
Cheryl helps me draw the pictures to go with the story.
I work together with my friend Mitch.
He is a wizard on the computer with the colors and things I tell him to put in.
It is an amazing feeling to have a book in my hands that I have written after years of thinking it in my head.
While mum cooks dinner I like to sit and draw.
Sometimes I go and feed the chucks.
It's been a really nice day.
I'm tired but also happy, contented and ready for bed.
