Our motto is magic luck and friendship, but I think that the creative manifesto is just
like taking all this like religious ideas that have been like the connecting points
and like the civilization building point for so many years and reinterpreting that into
like simple acts of play and like really digestible and accessible art.
My name is Arturo Sandoval and everyone knows me as 2D and I am one half of Friends with
You.
I'm Sam Borkson and I'm one half of the group of Friends with You.
Friends with You like really is an involvement in like reimagining and reinterpreting like
belief systems and spiritual like ideas and we really had like this idea that we wanted
to make somehow art accessible and have a simple object or a mass consumed object be
infused with an art idea behind it.
We're kind of like building like these worlds to kind of evoke these like simple like spiritual
moments inside of people.
But it really is about us like wanting to really reimagine these archetypes and when
you're trying to do this kind of work is you really have to be able to like talk to
the whole universe.
That's why it's like you have that's why our work is very iconic is very simple is
very like reduced so that people can project their own feelings that project their own
like cultural kind of like baggage and background into that iconography.
The thing that we're best known for creating in this world is the larger than life interactive
experiences and stuff are just huge you know that involve like 30 40 foot like inflatables
these monolithic type giant things that dwarf like the viewer kind of like gives you like
a sense of wow that's like huge and I feel like small near near it you know yeah I mean
for the green box market we made this concept where we're kind of like animating and bringing
to life this like like spirits these like almost elegant spirits that are like just
like kind of unveiling like what may be happening like all around us that we don't see or we
don't know about you know but it's like right below the surface of our perception.
You know how do we augment like the reality that's there and into the into the spiritual
world into like you know the realm that we cannot see like emotional and spiritual augmented
reality.
I think that we're just like kind of on the very tip of the iceberg of like what you
know a great experiences as far as like how we can talk to people like with our art and
give them these experiences and stuff like that you know I think that there's like a
lot of learning for us to do and a lot more ground to be covered as we like keep playing
and keep experiencing and creating ourselves.
I think we'll figure out more and more of this fun journey though.
